Im pretty new to Lit and wonder if anyone knows what software i need for resizing pics. Wanted to do for profile but dont seem to have any programs that can shrink it down to less kbs! I would be appreciative if someone can advise!

Check out www.irfanview.com

Irfanview isn't a photo editor, it is an image management program. It is designed specifically for manipulating image dimensions and file size; as in making thumbnails and avatars.

One of the keys to photo manipulation is to "export" them. Exporting strips the image of all the unnecessary editing data that just bloats the file size. You'll be amazed what a difference in size this will make.

Most every computer comes with a basic paint program, you can resize them there. Or, you can download and use some photo editing software - I am an avid Corel Paintshop Pro Photo fan. Many people use Adobe as well -- but the latter two are really if you'd like to play around with some editing as well.

If you're just looking to resize something, open it up in whatever default paint program you have and do it there, it'd be the quickest and easiest. You always want to save as a .jpeg or .png for the best photo quality.

Pedantic Quoll says Avatars (the ones that show in your posts) can't be used until you have 100+ posts but Profile pics (the ones that you can see if you click on someone's profile) can be added straight away. Also you can add a pic in your signature if you are really keen to get out there.
