I smiled at the young man's response, but really it made no difference whether they spoke the same language or not. They almost always understood anyway, and I had the fortunate position of being able to force them anyway.
"Lord Azende!" Came a call from outside. I cursed at the sound. Thankfully, all his men had orders to not enter his tent.
"What is it?" I yelled back gruffly.
"Dorean is here, and he is interested in one of the women, milord." The answer came. I cursed again.
"Very well... I shall be there shortly." I replied, before turning to my wife.
I gave her a kiss on the cheek, before whispering into her ear. "I am sorry, my love, Dorean always manages to pick me at bad times, but his coin is good. You may... start... with Leaf, if you want, but be careful. And please, do not remove his restraints." I kissed her once more, before standing and leaving the tent. One of the slave drivers met me outside and guided me to where Dorean stood.
"Ah, Dorean, my good friend." I said. He turned to face me, and I eagerly took his hand.
"Speak now, my time is precious. Are you interested in making a... purchase?" I asked, looking across at the young lady who had his eye. She was beautiful, and he knew he would get a high price for her. And Dorean would pay twice that amount, if his previous investments were anything to go by.
