What are yours? What do you mostly write about?


Mine are obviously coffee feuled in one form or another. Religion shows up too, but in a demented erotic way (it's those nuns that did it to me!) , and depression is also a frequent topic in my poems.

I was curious about everyone else. Some of you I've read throughout the years and know you when I see you.

Jazz (duh), childhood memories and loss are the themes I can't seem to avoid. Even when I don't intend to write about them, the poems often go there anyway. I write about nature, too, because that's really just observing what I see--often, the changing seasons, but that gets tied up with memories and loss in my writing.

You all know Maria loves to write about the garden and creatures. The rest of "us" are split ( LOL) as to what we like to write about.

Normal takes pleasure in societal themes and delving into the harshness that life sometimes inflicts; she especially likes to dealk with psycho-social themes and she wonders what can be done about such awful things as genocide and war and domestic violence.

when I'm here alone, and the rest of the voices are quiet, I like to write about metaphysical type things. I think my String Theory, Simplified is as close to "real" poetry as I will ever get.

If I'd had nuns do to me what they did to you, poetically speaking, them nuns'd show up in my stuff.
But no nuns did nothing to me like that poem (great one! yeow!).
So... yeah, nature and stuff. And nunless sex.

I write about problems. People in messes they can't solve. I guess I write a lot about things I wish I could do something about. Or would do something about. Maybe I should talk (write) less and do more.

That probably includes the kinky sex I should have had this week instead of writing about it.

I suspect I'm one of those who you can usually pick out of the crowd?
I try not to become thematically- or style-locked but I am quite sure I do.
I write love poems and nature poems and quite frequently, pain poems.

How do I grow past this?

I love the 5 senses challenge and I can't wait for new STCs. Occassionally a gunfight will drag me through my comfort zone and quite often, when I set deadlines for myself, I can produce a poem with a different feel and/or theme. I just know that one in 5 poems, even so, will harken back to my love, my home, my pain.

Love (unrequited or over), innocence (lost), depression. Oh and sex on occasion.

I write about human chemistry, the intricacies of the chase, the heat of fulfillment, the longing and sometimes about the passion.
I've written political satyres (but not in a while), anger, revenge, fear... there's a huge range of human emotions, it's like picking out of a giant warehouse.

What do you mostly write about?

Science, art, & comic books. My wife. Other poems. Philosophy. Women I might wish but can't. Politics. Advertising. Sports, I guess, at last.

Golf, maybe. I've written about golf, but it's all bad. Like Macbeth, sort of. Everybody dies, either in Birnam Wood or some fucking sand trap.

Or then or, I guess, the Cubs.

What are yours? What do you mostly write about?

Alienation, misogyny (I would argue that misogyny is an integral part of male sexuality), psychosis ( I worked in a nut house when I was young, the insane were the most sane people I have ever met.), philosophy, politics and just being angry with the world in general.

What anyone says you can't or shouldn't do, I'll find a way to do it. Oh sweet absurdity of life! Of death in life! Of life after death!
