It's a risk I guess. Even though they get tested regularly (Every 30 Days I think) The things is you hardly ever see condoms used in pornos. Why is that? Is it because views of them don't like seeing them used even though in reality they would be more often than not.

It's a big risk, I agree, maybe they will be more safe with each other now, or maybe not. Condoms should be used all the time anyways and woman need to be protected when they are all in that kind of work even the men as well.

Condoms in Pornos

While were on the subject of pornos everyone may've noticed that thread I started of "What Makes A Good Porno" I posed the question of what people's stance is on the use of condoms.

The thing is It's something I really wanna do so I wanted to find out what people like in them. However at the same time safety of the participants would be my main priority.

If sex workers would unionize, they could actually get the protection they deserve. I'm pretty sure all those HIV testing regulations don't apply to low-budget pornos.

But, if they required condom use in ALL pornos, they would also have to ban certain 'money shots'...

Just think of how many pornos you've seen where the guy cums on the woman's face... some of it going into her mouth... and she just rolls it around in there... I'm sure she winds up swallowing some...

That's not exactly 'safe' either...

Actually, i meant to say HIV testing regulations, not condom regulations...just for that reason. I'll edit my post!

:p

Well... Now you just made my point completely useless... :(

I've always thought that the Honor System they use is mighty risky. Testing every few days is okay but obviously there are holes in that system.

If nothing else, the good thing is that every porn shop did have a moratorium on making new movies until it was deemed safe again. Kudos to folks like Sharon Mitchell for taking charge in instances like this.

Adult companies like Wicked Pictures and Vivid require condom use in all their films - for vaginal and anal sex, but not for oral.

"Crown" condoms used in certain lighting, their light pink condoms disappear on video for white performers. For black performers, light blue ones do the same thing. Those should be used more.

Everyone in the adult industry is required to take STD tests regularly.

This subject has been beaten to death on other boards, Adult DVD Talk being the one I'm most familiar with. This particular event was sad to say the least. It brought to the surface a lot of issues of how the porn industry regulates itself, and how little it does to protect the performers. Some of my friends became so disenchanted with the industry that they have pretty much given up on watching anything. One friend has a personal moratorium on all but two porn companies with which she feels that she knows the owners, and has a good sense that they really care about the people they work with.

I do know the requirements in accordance of federal chapter 18 requires all actors submit proof of a DNA HIV test that is not more than 30 days old. These documents become a matter of permanent record that the producing company is required to maintain.

Of course, depending on the character of the individual actor. I believe the test is only accurate at the time of testing and is questionable once he or she has left to doctor’s office.

Even with the added protection of condoms there is still a 2% chance of the condom failing. It makes me wonder if we value our lives enough to take the chance.

Sharon Mitchell A well known porn star with 609 titles to her name, she has also directed 29 titles. This star, for many years has been is an avid proponent of HIV awareness within the industry. With website and literature available for performers.

Even with all the awareness and protective tools we have in place. It seems to always come down to the honesty and integrity of the individual performers.

Of course we all have two options in life?

We each can hide and never have any contact with anyone. Of course the human race would eventually become instinct.

Or we can trudge forth and using the tools of awareness and try to make the best of it. Of course we will each have to except a certain risk factor to each of our decisions.

Either path we choose does seem to create a “Catch 22”

i disagree, condom sex in porno movies completely SUX, it takes away from the wild dangerous thrill that is a porno movie! IMO
