I went and posted chapters of my story Blood Song on Ream Stories since I'm trying to at least make a small amount of money from it eventually. Problem is I don't any followers from anywhere that would want to follow me there and support me despite all the good reviews and I get it. Who would want to pay when they can read for free? I feel a little bad if I stop posting here mid-story and tell people to continue reading somewhere else and would probably be reported and lose people.
I've only received 2 comments on Ream so far: one from a spam bot and one from someone who, for whatever reason, says the story has strong world building but there are scenes where assaults happen due to this being non-con, and somehow, they think the main character is a minor (despite it being said right at the beginning of the story that character is 20 years old). In fact, all the character are over 20 years old. Now I'm sitting here wondering if that's why I don't have followers, even from the Ream community?
At this point I just want to give up the on the notion that I can monetize any of this and just stick to the joy of writing...but the competitive fighter in me wants to keep trying
EDIT: I just realised that there's a part in the story where the main character gets her first period when she's 20 due to her life beforehand delaying this and it's a plot point. Maybe the reader somehow missed this part? But she's still 20!
