Prime suspect

"I asked you first", Mickie was avoiding the question. David however wasn't going to let her off that easy. After all he was a detective, he was trained on questioning and interrogation. Her little ploy to turn the question had failed, "I just wanna know where your from, what are your interest, what do you do for fun... besides have sex with guys you just met".

The last comment bit sharply and she pulled away a little. She had never felt like a whore before, not even when her ex had threatened to offer her up to his friends, but that one comment did more to threaten her self worth than anything else. Probably because for the moment his words mattered, while she'd been planning on leaving her ex for a while.

Fun, that was all this was to him evidentally, and she found herself tearing up a little. She left the bed, feeling too exposed too naked. She didn't know what to say and she merely left and went to the bathroom, biting her lip to keep from crying out loud.

It was as if it suddenly hit her that her boyfriend was dead, and all that meant, and she slumped down and sat on the floor, tears rolling down her cheek. People were going to think she did it, even with an alibi, after all who else would want to kill him?

Her life, at least what had been her life was over, and she had no idea where to go from here.

"Real smooth, David. Real smooth." David felt horrible, he didn't mean to upset Mickie in anyway, but it seemed they weren't at that point where they could joke around. He could her sniffling in the bathroom, probably feeling like some cheap floozy for what she was doing. He didn't realize that she was so sensitive. As he went to get up and go to her, his phone rang. It was the station, it appeared that the autopsy had come in. He had no choice, He had to get dressed.

David didn't want to leave when things between Mickie were like this, but He had to do. He went to knock on the bathroom door, being gentle as to not convey any anger. "Mickie?" he said his voice short and filled with regret. "I didn't mean to upset but..... I have to go to work, if you want to leave here, that's fine I can have the station for a nicer hotel....anyway if you need to call me, my number's on the counter". He didn't hear a response, and so he left. This wasn't the best way to start a relationship.
