Princeton study: U.S. is now an oligarchy, not a democracy

This is why the Founders wanted the power at the State and not the Federal level...

That ^ is a false statement.

The Convention was called for and the Constitution was framed to specifically and intentionally enumerate supreme powers to the proposed federal government - over the not-yet-then States...

...(no States existed in America until after the Constitution for the United States was signed).

Funny thing, when American conservatives say "This is a republic, not a democracy!" they usually mean "This is a federal state, not a unitary state!" which is really a very different distinction. Usually they mean that, but not always, it can get confusing. Sometimes they seem to mean that universal equal suffrage is not essential to our republican system. Lurking on Free Republic I've actually seen proposals for reviving property qualifications to vote, and H.L. Hunt wanted your vote weighted in proportion to your income/assets.

Why should those without any skin in the game get a say so in how those that do manage their own blood letting?

That's like the homeless guy from under the bridge 5 states and 1800 miles away getting an equal say so in how your HOA is run......WTF??

You misunderstand. By "federal state" I did not mean the federal government, I meant the United States of America, which is a federal state, as opposed to a unitary state like France. And it is the conservatives, isn't it, who are most concerned with keeping it that way?

Until it's something they don't like...then they cheer federal supremacy and the awesome power of centralized gubbmint that they luuuuuuuuuuuuve. Just ask vette....he's a huge fan of federal supremacy bulldozing the voters and states.:D

Again, it's unclear: Are you protesting against centralization of government functions, or against universal suffrage with no property qualifications?

the fact of the matter is this. obama people really don't give a shit, as long as that welfare check keeps on coming ....

But it DOES give the Federal and State government the right.

It says so in the Takings clause of the Fifth Amendment of the United States Constitution. You know, that Constitution you claim to revere so much.

Well, yeah. The catch is that the 5th Amendment says government has to pay you for the property it takes, unlike WRT taxes.

BTW, the 5th Amendment does not create an eminent-domain power -- that is pre-constitutional, a power deeply rooted in Anglo-American common law, that every government has by virtue of sovereignty, therefore it did not even need to be specified in the Constitution.
