Sigh. You Americans crave people to harvest your vegetables cheaply and people to work cheaply on your construction sites etc. etc. etc. But you can't find enough Americans to do this. So your big businesses recruit foreigners. But your government makes the paperwork impossible because you Americans also don't want foreigners to come into your country. So something has to give.

But do you blame the government for not setting up a good guest worker system? Do you blame the big businesses for breaking the law? Do you blame your fellow citizens for not being willing to work those jobs, or not being willing to pay higher prices so other American citizens will take those jobs?

No, you just scapegoat poor people who only want to do what the Irish, German, Polish, Chinese, etc. immigrants did for your country back in the 19th century.

Absolutely, we still haven’t figured out what to do with 17,000,000 fruit pickers and house keepers, with farms closing down and hardly any one building commercial anymore.
