Problem with signing up as a new editor?

I have followed the new editor process (several times) to no avail. Emails to the site have gone unanswered. Anyone else encountering this problem?
I have some time in July and August to help out with editing but can't seem to get on the list!

It sometimes takes three eternities and 17 minutes--why, I don't presume to know.

Your best bet may be to simply check this forum periodically for authors requesting help, sign up on Snoopercharmbright's "active editors" sticky, or just state your availability in a post here. (Actually, you've done that, haven't you?)

None of that may be by the book, but look at the bright side: there is no law against redacting without a license.

Just to flesh out CC's reply, I changed my name on here to this one eighteen months ago, and I still haven't heard anything from the VE scheme. I seems to be effectively defunct (as it was before it was overhauled some years ago).

I'm having the same trouble.
I've changed my editing profile twice and it still just says "pending"
