Professional massage ideas?

I'm finally going, believe it or not!

I wanted to do something just for me this weekend. I remembered I had asked for this info months ago, and never took the time to do the research and set up the appointment. Today, I did! I go for a one hour massage for $55 tomorrow and I'm really looking forward to it.

Found a business close to my home that has been around for quite a few years. They do all different kinds of massage, so my approach is going to be to describe what I want when I get there. I think it is the Swedish combined with deep tissue or something like that. I have the kink in the neck from too many hours on the pc (at work AND here!) and sore shoulders, too.

I'm not sure if I know how to spell it, but rolfing is a deep massage, almost painful. But you move differently after it's done because you feel different.
Rolfing (correct spelling - including the capitalization since it is a name) is a deep muscle massage - and it often is quite painful. I don't usually go in for pain, but if a massage isn't at least a little painful then it is isn't doing much good besides possible relaxation.

A light relaxing massage can be given by just about anybody, but a good muscle massage requires a licensed massage therapist. They usually charge about $40-$60 per hour - which is actually fairly cheap considering they are doing a lot of physical work.

Due to my back problems I get a massage about once a month - with a Chiropractic adjustment immediately afterwards. I get adjustments more often than massages. When I had a job my insurance paid for it up to something like 20 massages a year.

Yup, that's what I did. I found a licensed massage therapist at $55/hour. I'm looking forward to it, can you tell?

I look forward to mine, even though it is quite painful. I can certainly tell the difference afterwards. I wish I could afford to start every day off with a massage.

 I liked it, I liked it! I did learn one thing- don't bother to fix your hair before you go to a massage.

I'm sure I'll go again. I may try a few different places to make sure I'm getting the one I like best. It was very relaxing, I could have fallen asleep I think if I'd let myself. The kink in my neck seems to be a lot better, too!

Thanks for all the help, everyone!

Yeah - it will get all oily. I take a shower before I go so I will be clean, then a shower afterwards to get all the oil off.

There is no way I can fall asleep during mine; I am writhing in pain half the time. I could fall asleep afterwards though, but that isn't saying much as I can sleep just about anywhere anytime.
