OOC: I'm still here! Don't lose faith in me, you guys!
IC: Miyax's breath catches in her throat as she sees something walk into the room. She can't quite see what it is. As the lightning flashes brightly, she can suddenly tell that, whatever else it might be, it ISN'T human. She isn't scared, but she's intrigued, so she walks over towards it. She isn't scared, but she's not stupid, so she doesn't get too close. She can see that it has a human-like form, but other than that she really can't tell. She wonders what its purpose is?
OOC: No, go ahead. You can either take over Tmuyo's old character or create a new one for yourself or if there's a specific character you want to play, tell me.
Character name: Henry Loggings
Age: Mid 30's-Early 40's
Appearance: Clean-cut; dark hair, slightly graying; crisp brown suit and tie; wire-rim glasses.
IC:
Dr. Logings approached the forbidding mansion just as the storm overhead in the dark night sky seemed at its greatest. Though the rain and wind drenched everything else, his clothing and skin remained somehow dry under his wide black umbrella.
As he appraoched the gates of the mansion, he met Michael the butler, who was standing out at the gates in a miserable state.
"Hello," said the doctor. He gave the butler an engaging smile, and his friendly face was lit for a moment by a flash of lightning. "My name is Henry Loggings, and my car broke down a ways down the road. I was wondering if I may use your telephone to call for a tow truck..."
Humes is waiting at the door when Michael returns with the doctor. Introductions are quickly made.
"Why certainly, Doctor Loggins. The phone is just down the hallway. Now if you will excuse me, my associate and I are just taking my dog out for a walk."
The man thanks them and goes off to make the phone call.
"Well, my friend." Humes says, addressing the figure which has been hiding in the shadows. "I have done my part of the bargain."
In answer, the figure pulls out a small box and gives it to Humes.
"Thank you. Now if you will excuse me."
Humes, Michael and the dog then step out into the pouring rain. The door closing behind them.
At the main gate, Humes drops down and grips Diablo's head.
"Don't look back!" he instructs.
The is a sudden flash of light and then a deafening quiet.
Standing up, Humes looks back at the house. It is gone.
So has the storm.
Looking up at the sky, he heads for the car.
"I think it's going to be a nice day. Let's go home."
Dr. Loggings smiled as he felt the house shake. "Hmm... curious. Strange place they have here..."
He walked over to the phone stand and placed a hand on the reciever. "Hmmm... I wonder what the odds are that when I pick up this phone, it will be dead?" He asked himself. Lifting the reciever from its cradle, he held it to his ear, smiling as he heard no dial tone.
OOC: Oh! It's just that your last post really confused me (it still does). I understand that Shirlene is supposed to be Humes' daughter in disguise. But how did she get out of her locked room to get to Humes' car? And who is she talking to? The doctor? But he's trying to use the phone. And how can she be with Humes and Michael one minute, then with Rupert the next?
As I said, I'm very confused.
If you want to take the thread into another direction, by all means do so. I'm very curious to see where it goes.
OOC She got out of the room by dismantling one of the hidden cameras to use the electrical parts to make a battery orerated torch to cut through the lock.
Dear me... that would be rather mean to just end the thread now. I mean, my character just wanted to use the phone, and he got sucked into another dimension with the others.
Oh well, I was always rather unlucky at these sort of things...
(OOC: No, the thread is not dead. However, to save any further confusion, I suggest we just carry on.
Dareth smiles as he watches the man try to use the phone.
That won't work now, my friend!
He then opens the door and sees Humes and Michael, now past the main gate, walking towards their vehicle.
He senses something passing him. Looking back at the vehicle, he notices that next to it stands a young woman.
He sighs and then finds himself standing behind her.
He can see the girl's reaction as Humes comes closer.
Why is he ignoring her? she would be thinking to herself.
Humes got ever closer, ignoring the woman as she talks to him.
Then Humes walks right through her.
Dareth smiles at the shock on the woman's face.
Humes, apparently completely oblivious to the woman's presence opens the car door and lets his dog and himself in while Michael goes to the driver's door.
"I am a bit peckish, Michael. Take me to Herato's first."
Michael nods and gets in.
Dareth watches with amusement as the woman, now shouting, continues to try and get her father's attention as the car drives away.
"He can't hear you, you know." Dareth finally says.
"Eh?" For the first time, it appears that the woman appears to notice Dareth's presence.
