It'd be an interesting twist for him to set her up with a new identity... or maybe just going back from her "hooker name" to her real name would be enough? But, her police record might give her away?

Then, of course, there are her many past "Johns" who might recognize her. Maybe when they get married, one of his best men greets her with "You look familiar... have we met?"

Eventually, the best man tries to tell the rich guy, "Hey man, there's something I have to tell you about your bride that you might not want to hear..."

After first trying to sweep it under the rug, he has the guy swear to secrecy... which of course gives him blackmail material. At first a little money is enough payoffs, but, he has to admit, she was a GREAT prostitute and he misses her... and, now that she's all cleaned up and dressing high class, he can't get her off his mind...

So his blackmail (of the husband? or maybe of the wife?) changes from money to sex.

One drunken night the guy brags to a buddy... who now wants the same deal to keep quiet.

And so on, until she's pimped out to more men than when she was a prostitute.

The classic answer to blackmail is just to say, go ahead, you get nothing. But that takes some strength
But maybe, go almost to the point of going along with blackmail. And then at the least minute say "Go to Hell". Dramatic I guess?

True... blackmail only works if there's a lot to lose. Maybe she gives in to the blackmail because she doesn't want to shame her loving husband with her past... knowing it will hurt him financially. Or, he gives in because he wants his love to have a "fresh start" with his friends and family without reminders of her past.

I like the original idea. Add in the complication of someone recognizing the sex worker either at work or at home and things get tense.
