This is just an old thread of no importance but I hate making a new thread just for a possibly limited reason. This will be TLDR for most but definitely not something I just want to clog up an already lovely fast paced thread like Cozy. So....per the conversation of dark stories being the most compelling, here is real life historical true crime from my music history class I still remember;
Gesualdo
Picture Naples in 1590.....a Neapolitan count and brilliant composer Carlos Gesualdo had settled into life with his first child from his first wife; his cousin Donna Maria. Carlos composed music in a way that would not be repeated again for almost 2 centuries. Unfortunately, as is the case with many wealthy and brilliant minds, his emotional state was fragile.
He began brooding a suspicion that his infant child was not his and about the unusual attention given to his wife and child by another man - the third Duke of Andria, Fabrizio Carafa.
One day, Carlos announced he was leaving on a hunting trip and then hid in the wardrobe of his bedroom. Just as he suspected, within hours of Carlos's "departure" Fabrizio arrived. Carlos watched in dismay as the Duke doted on his child and openly showed his amorous affection on Donna Maria - HIS WIFE!! Yet, Carlos steeled his resolve and stayed in his hiding place until dark. He watched as Frabrizio kissed the child good night. He watched with boiling blood as his wife opened her thighs to this dog. Carlos had seen enough. This wife was unfaithful. This intruder not only stole her affection but produced a bastard child posing as his heir.
As the cheating couple were in the throws of passion, Carlos leapt from his spot but could not be heard over Donna Maria's lustful cries. Fabrizio's lifeless deer shot riddled body fell on top of his lover; covering her in blood. Carlos ceased to be; totally replaced by a murderous beast. Donna Maria's screams in anguish went unheard as the raging monster swung her bastard child from the chandelier until dead. A pistole was too merciful for the cheating bitch. No, Carlos had another plan. Instead, Gesualdo gutted her like a fish and stabbing her 17 additional times. Neapolitan police details later describe his account of coming back to the bedroom again to make sure they were all dead.
Being a nobleman in 16th century Italy had its perks....a big perk was being found not guilty due to reasonable circumstances. Gesualdo later became a prince after his father died and remarried. His music is considered to be delicate and angelic and ....centuries ahead of its time.
