He knew she was teasing as she reached for her bowl and she gave him a wicked grin.

Sliding back the way we were going, I set out in opposition of west. If things were to be laid out rightly, then I was going to have to have them arrive to late. As much as it pained me to divorce my ears from their secrets, I had been giving a quest, but it was not for me alone.

Through the coming brightness as dust set night ablaze before me, I wandered and wept until I encountered a village. It was kept well by its inhabitants and I admired the artful decay around its edges. Not entirely savory, but there was some small evil I could delve up there. Let them see it coming, I thought. It will befall them all the more harshly when they know of it, and harm them only little while unseen.
