Okay...I've been noticing something very strange lately.

I hope I can explain this...

When I log onto Lit, it usually gives me little yellow check thingies beside the threads that have been active since the last time I logged in. Lately, it has not been doing that. Or, if it does, it doesn't reflect ALL the threads I have not yet read.

Then, today...I log onto the story page, and I noticed my profile was updated on April 5th. Funny thing is, I did NOT update it. There are no changes to it, I never went to that section, because I had no need to do so.

So, I'm wondering if Lit is having a freaky moment or two, or if the more likely explanation is someone having my passwords. You would think if I changed it, all would be well...but I HAVE changed them, and it still keeps doing this weird stuff.

Yes, I do make a point of logging out every time I leave Lit.

Clear as mud, huh?

Any ideas?

i bet lit is just acting funny. a program w/ this many members is allowed to do that, i guess

I wanna know too!

Can't help you at all, S, other than to say maybe you should ask that question of the moderators. Hope you aren't being hacked.

What I want to know is, how do you "log out"? It seems to be automatic when I close my browser, but I hate to rely on something like that!

As I understand it, when you leave lit by closing your browser, you remain logged in for a certain period of time afterward. I find that if I return within ten to fifteen minutes, for example, the thread postings showing up in my subscribed threads remain the same whereas if I had truly logged out, they would not show the same posts from before I left as the ones that were new since my last visit.

To fully log out immediately on leaving lit, navigate to the home page by clicking on Literotica Discussion Board at the top of the page and then click on Log Out at the bottom of the resulting page. This removes cookies and logs you out immediately.

Could also be someone knows your password too.

Change your password now.

Change it often as a common practice. I change mine at most forums every few weeks depending on what sort of PMs or whatever are at that site.

;)

Thanks, all. :)

It is probably just something weird I'm doing. I'm not all that computer literate, and it took me a while to learn how to navigate lit. Still, this thing kinda bothers me.

Thanks for the reminder about passwords...I should probably change them more often. :rose:

Login status is a function of your browser. When you enter a site, the server asks your browser for a cookie. The cookie tells the server who you are. (It also keeps a record of a lot of other information as well.)

The best way to ensure that you're logged off a site is to clear all your cookies before closing your browser. Be aware, though, that doing this will delete records of your activities at other sites you've been to (clearing your "shopping cart" and viewing history at Amazon.com, for example). If you wanted to, you could delete only specific cookies, but that would get old real fast.

Some sites do keep a user database, so that after you log in, it can keep track of what you, as a specific user, have done (such as the number of messages you've posted on the Lit forum), so it isn't always apparent where any particular bit of information is kept.

Ahhh, yes.

Thanks, mwy!

I think something that important should be more easily accessible. But now I know.

I have what is probably a really simple question....how do you change the wording underneath your handle? Like mine says "virgin"......lol.

You have to have 1000 posts to your name to be able to change it. You become Experienced at 30 though so that's not so bad :)

Ah, thank you for the info.....guess I'll have to post more :rose:

Once you really get into a few threads, the posts quickly start to build up. It is much easier than you might think to get up to 100 or even 1000. It just kinda happens while you enjoy yourself. ;)

Welcome to lit!
