R.I.P James Garner

Godspeed to him. I grew up watching his westerns and loved him in Space Cowboys.

RIP. My uncle has a picture of him and Garner standing in my grandma's house after arriving there from Fort Dix. Don't remember how well they knew each other while in the Army but he had dinner there and spent the night before taking a bus headed west. I grew up next store (many years later) to my grandma's and remember seeing the picture. Pretty cool connection to him. My uncle is now 85 and still alive and well. I'll ask him if he still has that picture and I'll post it.

He wasn't really active in hollyweird in recent years. That's truly a shame. I enjoyed seeing him in Maverick with Mel Gibson, and Space Cowboys, but aside from that... he didn't really do much since the late 60's early 70's.

I remember fondly his roles in Support your local sheriff, Maverick (TV series), The Great Escape, Rockford Files, and the Polaroid commercials with his screen wife (and kids), Mariette Hartley.

His form and style of acting won't be soon replaced.

What ^^^ said... great actor, great man.. will be missed.

Watch 'Twilight' (1998) . Garner, Paul Newman, Susan Sarandon, and the always great Gene Hackman. With future stars Reese Witherspoon and Liev Schreber. (and one of my faves, Giancarlo Esposito.)

Good thread Munky - one of my favorites for certain. I get MeTv on my cable and Maverick is one of the shows on there regularly. Washington Post had a nice Obit today.

I have a friend who never missed an episode of Rockford Files (probably dating myself) because he thought he could learn how to be a private detective from that show.

My friend ended up being a private detective, and a damn fine one.

Grew up with a dad that loved the Rockford Files...to this day I still watch when I see it on the old-school channels at 4am LOL

YES.. posted this on the blurt thread yesterday. I loved The Rockford Files...watched.with my grandmother.
