R.I.P. the Flat Sheet?

I fucking hate our new mattress more than I have ever hated anything in my entire life. Despite SAYING it was a full, it doesn't fit in the bed right, so now we're putting fuck all on that. We do a sheet and one blanket because hand to god this is a two person job now. Like putting the fitted sheet on is a workout. You have to wrestle the mattress out of the frame and it's a goddamn ordeal. We're not tucking shit under that. It's not happening. Fuck it.

I don't even tuck the blanket anymore I just throw that fucker on there, fluff it out and call it a day. If the fitted sheet comes off, which it does because the mattress is also fat as hell, I just fucking kill myself. I usually get up first so that right there is the image of somebody else's problem. I'm going to work. Fuck it.

Fuck sheets in general. I am just full of rage now. This is a rage mattress.

Candy, have you ever tried jersey sheets? Jersey as in t-shirt fabric.
It’s what I’ve used for a few years now because they are recommended for these new mattresses on the market.

Also, I quit using flat sheets a long time ago.

Burn them!

I'd like to burn my flat sheet. I couldn't find a fitted sheet for the mattress and had to resort to using the flat sheet (purchased as a set with a fitted sheet). Tucking in the ends, under a heavy mattress was quite a struggle.

I remember now why I hated changing beds when I was working in a hotel as a chambermaid, many moons ago (yes they called us chambermaids).

So many flat sheets to tuck and fold. I am very glad I no longer have to do that.

I have never mastered what my Grandmother told me was a Hospital fold. I just shove the flapping bit on the corner under the mattress as well as I can. Any willing Nurse is more than welcome to come and demonstrate please. :):rose:

I could do it when I was a kid, only because my mom insisted that I do it. She would check and yell at me until I did.

When I moved out, I just stuffed things under there. Now nothing gets tucked in. my feet feel much more comfortable that way.

My flat sheet comes untucked most times but it's so easy just to flip up the quilt and tug the sheet back into place. Will never sleep between anything else than a fitted sheet and flat sheet, preferably white and cotton.

Drives me crazy though when you tuck things in and your knuckles scrape on the frame.

And, who still irons their sheets?

And, anyone sleep on a bare mattress? there has to be someone.

OK, I'll stop now. :D

Some "flat" sheets are made of the most luxurious blends; cotton/linen, etc. There is a nicely sensual quality to these fine fabrics that I hope never dies.

Another cotton lover here.
You need to iron sheets in Africa because they get insect eggs.
Just got mine off the line before they ended up stinking of BBQ dead cow
The first bear mattress I tried was too hard, the next too soft ...

I hadn't used one in years but I'm recently back into them... I got a new bedspread that was kind of scratchy until I washed it a couple times, but by the time it had softened I was really enjoying using a flat sheet again.

Speaking of sheets... has anyone bought those NEW Sheez that are cooler. A hundred bucks a set is a little much imho.
