Radio Free Jezebel

i am happy to have had a hand in any debauchery that ensued, as a result of listening to this set. :D

Sure go ahead and be happy, bitch! Love Monkey had the girl whooped. Then just to prove my point I dragged her wimpering ass in and read her your last piece and then made her watch Nikka.

The imagery, music and moves were like throwing gasoline on a fire! You filipped the on switch to the Amynator - there was no stopping her! Even hummed the damn song as she proceeded to clip the Flying Love Monkey's wings!

So here sits a defeated and very used ex-Love Monkey, her wings in tatters; with only a couple of hours sleep; knowing that sometime todaythe Amynator will watch that cursed video again and it will all start over again.

So go ahead and be happy - for your part in changing the terrifying Flying Love Monkey back into the Amynator's submissive little pet. (Guess my new name will have to be the 'Amyateher' ;) )

P.S. Mmmmmmm, thank you darlin for the yummy night!

Debauchery? More like piracy on the high seas, ARRR! I did sally forth and plundered the booty!

That's 'smug bitch' to you, missy. Yes, S-M-U-G, in capitals. ;)

Man, teach me to surf youtube for songs!

I was on a great, horny high with Roy Orbison -

Then I listened Colbie Caillat sing "Battle".

She just kicked me in that secret "hurt" spot I've been trying real hard to ignore. Ouch, you Bitch!

Set for the Temple Dog and the Calico Cat

Sometimes I like to imagine she sounds kinda like this, at those moments.

Then again, this made me think of her too.

And I admit I tend to go here, occasionally.

Other times, I can sometimes hear this in the background.

Later. Later on, like that.

So I'm thinking about artists and poets who just happen to set their poems to music, and David Byrne is an obvious example. I love a lot of his work but I set out to do a search, not so much for my favorite songs of his but for the best examples of his "poetry". Here's a set of some interesting choices.

Of course, since he's an artist, he also does absolutely stunning videos.

She's Mad

Naive Melody

Life During Wartime

Once in a Lifetime

Nothing But Flowers

And one from my absolute favorite movie of all time, hands down: True Stories.

Puzzling Evidence

Why am I not shocked? And here I thought I was the only person who ever saw that movie! I even wore out a DVD copy. It's one of the best of all times.
Look up "satire" and "irony" in the dictionary, and you'll find the trailer for True Stories.

Love for Sale

I had the vhs version and now I have the dvd. One of my fave flicks ever. Love all the songs mentioned in your and Bij's posts. And though it's from Little Creatures, not True Stories, I've always considered And She Was something of a personal anthem, the narrative of my journey. ;)

My favorite moment of many in that movie was tough to find on YouTube because it's a sort of mixed scene, but here's one version. Why yes that IS Pops Staples, being a kewl voodoo priest. He's my hero.

It's a really fun video as well. Love that one. I thought about putting it into the set but I figured I'd already gone on long enough.

Sassy I found this and I had to put it up for you. I just love this guy. I bet you do, too.

*jumping and clapping*

My favorite by him. If you're a Dirty Dancing fan, you might remember, this is what was playing the first time Johnny and Baby 'did it'. :D

Ooh, this is going in the Red Light Lounge

I think he's an angel sent from god. He has a beautiful soul and his music is so uplifting. This is gorgeous.

I like that.....a lot. Is that the group, The Five Blind Boys (of Alabama, I think), singing backup for him?

ETA: Looked it up on Wiki. That's them. But it's The Blind Boys of Alabama. Thought I heard the 'five' somewhere. *shrug*

Yeah it's them. When they started out, if you look at the old clips, there are two more of them and they don't look blind to me lol. But they're great. I was trying to find a clip of Solomon doing "Make Do With What You Got," which is a great song, spiritually moving and really funky bluesy. Not on the Tube though.
