Rand Paul just announced he's running for President

I'm intrigued by Rand Paul. I just hope he stays closer to his libertarian roots, and doesn't pander too much to the Republican base.
Dreamer.

Our country was founded on principles that meant to expand personal liberties and limit the role of government. I believe we must return to these principles.
I have made it my priority to reassert the rights and privileges of the individual by standing up for the entire Bill of Rights. Our Federal Government has grown out-of-control and we must return it to its constitutionally enumerated powers.
Except for

As President, I would strongly support legislation restricting federal courts from hearing cases like Roe v. Wade, in an effort to stop harming the lives of the unborn.
And
As President, I will continue to support term limits in the hopes of ensuring that your elected officials act in direct representation of you and your needs.

So he's for the constitution except for the separation of powers part and he's for individual liberty except for being able to elect who you want.
For some reason I have an idea there are a few other areas where he will pander to the right.

Yeah, his abortion platform doesn't synch with Libertarianism, although there is some disagreement within the actual party on that.

I do like the fact that he's commented that the government abuses against individual liberties began under the Bush administration. Too many on the right pretend this is all new ground under the current administration. I think he would work to rein that in, and I can't see anyone else doing so. That's been a hot button issue for me, lately.

It is beyond me how a "libertarian" can be so beloved of the Tea Party. Their hostility to biggummint is real, I'm sure, but it is not the kind of libertarianism I am familiar with from talking to self-ID'd libertarians, who see state and local government as just as potentially tyrannical as national/federal. Practically all libertarians are pro-choice on abortion, and I doubt many Tea Partiers are. Many libertarians want an open-borders policy on immigration, and nothing is surer to raise TP hackles.

Libertarians do not want the government to tell them what to do. They do want the government to tell people they dislike what to do.

I wonder if at some point in his campaign he'll speak at Liberty University, founded by the man who said all those killed on 9-11 deserved to die.

Speaking at Liberty University is going to become a requirement for the Republican nomination. It is sort of like pretending to believe in the literal truth of the Adam and Eve story.

I just wish a supposed Christian would ask one of their politicians their view on Lilith, I mean, she is mentioned as Adam's wife BEFORE Eve.

Rand Paul, Hilary Clinton, Barack O B, Cameron, Milipede..... all masks on the same face

Ron Paul would've been interesting, but then so would Nigel Farage and he's a right tool....

Well, she's not mentioned in the Bible, only in rabbinical literature -- the Talmud, I think -- which they tend to ignore.

I learnt bout it during teenager Catholic indoctrination classes, I mean, when I was taking classes to be Confirmed. It was hilarious when I point out that fact to hypocritical cafeteria Christian politicos, they obfuscate immediately.

According to Genesis, Eve was only created because Adam couldn't find a suitable mate among the beasts. I wonder how many he tried.

:D

I always thought it slightly strange that god managed to create Adam from the earth but had to take a rib (or some weird little ahem bone) to create Eve - did he run out of dust or what...

There are any number of Bible horrors you could cram down a politicians throat...they will just ignore it and go to the next question...of course hitting the IRL "Iggy" all the good vettemans out there just pretend it simply never happened or if they are stupid they outright twist it into the most absurd fuck fuck game you could possibly imagine, and after a wall of text you realize it's just another re-summarizing of GOP positions.

Everything not white male property owner destroyed America and should be drug behind a pick-up, because freedom and the Constitution.

Not a single one of the fuckers has the spine to look everyone in the eye and say "You wan't this? Fine knock yourself out but I ain't got time for this buu shit at my pay grade. I got too much real world shit to deal with and worry about if how I beat my wife and kids or how I pimp my daughter out is up to Jesus's standards or not."
