Real life nicknames?

I still find it weird when people call me 'Homburg'. I guess it has become my scene name, but I just go by my first name at events. Some people just know me by this name, and that is who I am to them. *shrug*

Oddly enough I have gotten pretty used to being called Grace and Gracie. Their are people who know my real name who still call me these because that's either what they think of me as, or they prefer it.

Do you have a nickname? Can you share it here? Do you give people and/or things nicknames? If not, why not?

nickname is Stevie... it has to do with an english teacher i had the most exquisite crush on for 4 years of HS and I still am in touch with him (30 years after graduation)... he was a good guy...

we had a cat named Rubin who later became Rubidoo.. Rubin-scadoobin... don't know why... why do these silly things come out of our mouths?

my son calls his Grandma the Main Mama Goddess... or MMG for short.. OR G-ma

I have had and still have a number depending on the people I'm with.

They are all pretty nice actually :):D

all my family call me babe. Have done since I was little and even now when I am 40! Can be quite embarrassing in shops!

some friends call me a variation of my name

I used to be called ''sunshine girl'' by the friends of an ex...a very long time ago lol....think I represent more mixed weather these days! :D

Another ex always calls me ''sexy''. Even now his emails still start that way even though we are no longer together...I guess thats more of an affectionate term though than a knickname though he doesnt call me anything else lol

and one of the best I have is a bloke at work who calls me ''little one''. I love it!

i got alot of nicknames from differnet people

one that my parents called me was chibr-ru: from the translation it means little devil, other ones where by friends that are variation of my real name.

like stevo, stevie some call be by my last name

I don't really do nicknames. Rarely someone will give me one but usually it's a variation of my name.

Only one person in the world is allowed to call my be a nickname, and that's my niece. I don't like being called 'Mr Brooke', but I will tolerate it from strangers. I strongly dislike being called 'Sir'.

On the other hand I tend to nickname both people and things. All my cars have had names (except my Spitfire, which was just 'Spitty' or 'the Spitfire'). The present one is La Voiturette; before that, The Big Orange, before that, Spitty, before that the exhilarating and deeply anti-social Rocket Ship (it was possible to drive the Rocket Ship legally, but that was sort of missing the point). Before that, the most under-rated sports car of them all, the Tin Snail (if you've never barrelled a deux chevaux flat out over a twisty mountain road you've never lived; it will out brake and out corner everything else on the road, and the fact that it can't accelerate is moot if you never let it slow down). Before that, the Fire Engine, which was the first car that was actually mine.

I absolutely abhor nicknames for myself. For most other people, as well. I'm going to call someone by their proper name, unless they've specifically told me that they prefer something else. However, when it comes to me, I just cringe. There are four letters in my name, how hard is it to just say it?!? My godfather is about the only person to get away with calling me a nickname. I've been CareBear for him for the past 30 years. Go me, I just need something cute on my tummy, and I can do the Care Bear stare.

I have a friend I have called Carebear (That was her screen-name when we met) and even though I know her real name, I still call her that. I have talked to her husband on rare occasion and he is Mr. Carebear and laughs and loves it.

For a long time, I was called Baby Girl, because for the first three days of my life I did not have a name and that was what was on the Nursery Bassinet in the hospital. (Long story of why no name. *sigh*)

Oh and do NOT call me Baby Girl. Otherwise this is what happens:

ROTFL.... one of our cats, "Wiley Riley" has long white fur and can get an almost identical look on her face... Riley is a neighborhood legend!

Thanks for the laugh, SadAngel :)

I managed to read sweet-rat insteat of sweetheart once. So we laughed for minutes, and i called her sweetrat. Also panda muffin ----------------> puffin.

You are welcome. I think that is one of my two favorite LOL Katz pics. When there is a good time for the second one, I'll post it!!:D

I have a million and three nicknames. Some variations of my real name, some variations of this name. My head turns for all of them. I like people to call me what they want to call me instead of thinking they have to call me by my name.
The oddest one is tree...dunno how it came about. I am not tall lol and it is sort of a nickname for my real name and i answer to it *shrug*

As a girl 'Eleven'. As in the bingo call, "Legs eleven". I am quite tall with long legs now, but when growing up, I was all gangly legs and arms.
