- 5'11", 170 lbs, athletic build.
- Greenish grey eyes.
- Short, brunette hair and a close cut beard.
- Reserved, quiet,
- Suffering from a broken heart (explained below).
- Humble, but know when "credit is due" to him, he is willing to accept it.
- Patient (see hunting comments in background).
- Born June 21, 1997.
- Grew up in the Canadian back woods.
- Hunting:
- Hunted with his father from a young age, putting much needed food on the table.
- Learned how to use a shotgun for birds and rabbits and a rifle for big game, including long distance shooting with both open sights and a scope.
- Never cared for bows or non-fire arm weapons, although he understands their value.
- He developed great patience while hunting, sometimes sitting still for hours or creeping along so slowly that he looked like he was a statue.
- After graduating high school, he moved to Oregon to be near a young woman, Julia. She had come to Canada on vacation and "made a man" of him, claiming his heart forever.
- Unfortunately, he arrived in Eugene to find that she had not one boyfriend but three. He stayed, thinking that she might "come around" to their love.
- Then the Zombie Riots occurred.
- Skilled stalker and "killer" of prey ... and Zombies.
- Can "dress out" a deer in 5 minutes. Might not sound like a usable skill, but there are deer in the woods at the edge of campus.

- His father's hunting knife (which he'd checked on the plane and later transferred to the back pack below).
- His rifle and other gear are at the hostel on the other side of the river, if he can get to them.
- A back pack with "carry on" type possessions: tooth brush, tooth paste, disposable razor, book ("The Five Fingers"), and more. Nothing that really goes beyond personal use.)
- Daniel will want to help with security and hunting.
- He isn't looking for a new girl friend, but if the opportunity presents itself, he won't hold back.
- He has no where to go, so he isn't in a hurry to leave the library.
- He is conflicted about whether he should care about Julia. She dumped him after all -- "cheated" in his young mind -- but he still loves (or at least lusts) for her.
