RELIGION is man TRYING to talk to God. The Bible is God TRYING to talk to man.

Wrongly dividing is the path of religion, rightly dividing is the path of God.

Really? So all the members of your church can read Ancient Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek? And they have found the original versions of the NT text, in Greek and Aramaic, that came off the author's styluses, they have the documents written on Papyrus (for the NT)? If so, then I am impressed, otherwise, just the typical fundy stupidity, that somehow they are reading the 'real' bible. It seems like evangelical Christians have decided God is more like some sort of evil Alien in a bad science fiction movie, who wants his minions to please him by killing, torturing, and otherwise making other species lives miserable...

With evangelicals, they seem bound and determined to be as mean and nasty to everyone else they can be, use their bible and belief as a weapon and otherwise make others think that the bible is about hate and being bullies, rather than being about love. Take a look sometime at what people under 30 think of Christianity, it isn't a very nice image.

Not to mention that the folks in ISIS claim that God is talking to them, too...and their God is the same god the OP claims to be listening to. I don't think the problem is that we need to listen to God, I think the problem is far too many people are listening to God but God is not speaking a language any of them understand...

Whooooossshhhh. It was a joke. I'm a Unitarian Universalist, actually, it's not heavy on Bible study (though we do do some). I just meant that that seems to be the attitude of every Christian church, sect, denomination and Bible-study club -- they -- every other church, etc. -- "interpret" the Bible, but we just read it for its obvious plain meaning, therefore we are right and they are wrong on any point of disagreement.

Wrongly dividing is the path of religion, rightly dividing is the path of God.

Clearly, whatever church Carol belongs to "rightly divides" -- i.e., correctly parses the Scriptures -- and all others "wrongly divide."

Do you know that Islam also considers Jesus Christ a prophet? Did you know that they also believe that Jesus was born of the virginal Mary? Did you know that they also believe that the Torah, the Bible (old and new testaments) are also the Word of God as interpreted by man ( but only to be accepted where confirmed by the Quran) contradictions are dismissed as the work of man rather than God. No better or worse than Judaism which ignores the New Testament more or less completely. They also believe in the second coming of Christ to Kill the False Messiah and establish peace and justice on earth.

Christianity and Islam have a lot more similarities than differences. Both consider Abraham their first prophet. Both are splinter religions of Judaism. Islam is no more the religion of the antichrist than you are a fucking Rhodes scholar.
