Religious. Sex. Fetish.

*snip*
According to Jewish folklore, Lilith was the first wife of Adam. She was banished from the Garden of Eden when she refused to make herself subservient to Adam (specifically, she refused to get into the missionary position with him during sex). When she was cast out, she was made into a demon figure, and Adam was given a second wife, Eve, who was fashioned from his rib to ensure her obedience to her man. The following is an excerpt from a Jewish folktale that describes some of the evils attributed to Lilith...
Link to Lilith mythology

On a side note, she's also been blamed for giving men wet dreams in order to capture their sperm to birth lots of baby demons. And there's some seriously interesting cross-over between the Jewish mythology of Lilith and the mythology of Inanna. If I could find the link to the right page I'd post it.

Goddess Inanna, Mesopotamian Goddess of love and war 700 - 800 BC . also been dated early 2000 BC. The ring post can represent Inana and her sexuality with men and she is the daughter of the moon God Sin. The symbols are measuring cords for mans life in her hands and the rod and ring of justice. Original in British Museum.

There is a very cool shop in Norwich in the UK named after her that sells lots of stuff to do with Goddess worship, Wicca etc

Interesting. I'm guarding my sperm tonight. I don't want any little green-eyed spawns of hell unleashing a thousand years of darkness.

She does look incredibly hot, though, if you can forget that that's a snake.

Self-flagellation.

It really would save a lot of trouble if they'd just let the priests and the nuns fuck.

LOL That's so weird, I was just reading a book that was loosely based on the stories of Lilith.

My essay, 'Goddess Nemesis, the Greek Goddess of Fate and Retribution: In Mythology, History and Archaeology' has just been approved, the link is below.

The original version I did had lots of images pasted into it, including the photos of statues I posted to this thread, but I have stripped all these out to post this copy, which is a plain text file.

Posted for 1st/2nd February, which is the pagan festival of Imbolc when the Celtic Goddess Brigid is honoured.

She is goddess of wisdom, perfection, intelligence, poetic eloquence, craftsmanship, healing and and skill in warfare amongst other things. She brings the first signs of spring with the festival of Imbolc celebrated this time of year. Her significance and symbolism were usurped by the Christian St Bridget, a Celtic saint associated with church of Kildare and the feast of Candlemass. The symbolism of both pagan and christian festivals involves purification and the lighting of flames.

In a dark room
kneel at my feet
and light a candle
for each of your holes
just before
you offer it to me.
