ARRRGGGH!!!

I keep reading and thinking...

You can't preach the Bible without preaching hatred towards God.

That's exactly how I keep reading it as well - and undoubtedly what that idiot is achieving. What an utter waste of space.

Some folks are so worthless they are known down south as not worth the price of a bullet.

In phelp's case, I would be willing to donate a box of shells.
Colly, I know I've argued about the death penalty with you and others, and there are nasty criminals that I wouldn't put to death because I think it's mostly God's responsibility to decide life and death.

But this guy is just so beyond the pale, I can't say that I wouldn't happily chip in on the shells with only the briefest second thought. His behavior is so cruel, so psychopathic, it's difficult not to put him very close to the Charles Manson or Jim "Jonestown" end of the spectrum of depravity.

Ya know, I feel the same Huckleman, this guy completelt repulses me (good title Shanglan) but I was just thinking about how cool it would be for him to actually see the REAL truth in the bible, the whole "love your neighbour" the compassion, the humility, the all emcompassing love. Maybe then, he'd see what he's doing and has been doing as wholy wrong and to repent for it.(I am sure repent is a word Phelps is quite apt at throwing around the shop)

I find it difficult to get my head round that, He's done so very much wrong, he's been working for the otherside Against God as far as I can see, but I can't ignore that what I believe includes a great big dose of forgiveness and forgiving others.

Vengence is the Lord's, and I rest safe in the knowledge that if he doesn't change his ways, God will sort him out but part of my heart hopes he will change his ways, No one is unforgiveable.

EL has a particular point here about Phelps. He is more like the Pharisees that the Jesus of Nazareth depicted in the New Testament condemns for their excessive harshness and hypocrisy than like the Jesus he claims to worship as God.

I am a pagan, which gives me an outsider's detachment on this issue. It seems to me that there are many kinds of Christians. Given my choice, I would much rather have as my neighbor someone like EL, whose version of Christianity makes her more likely to befriend me than to lynch me.

If you look at the version of Jesus in the Gospels, he doesn't seem overly hung up about sexual acts like adultery, fornication, or sodomy. He is more concerned with empathy and charity. Whether he actually taught that or not, the Jesus who emerges from the Gospels, for the most part, sounds like a hippie. Not exactly someone who would make Fred Phelps comfortable.
