John Hand was a 24 year old guy who had just left the military. He had a successful career in the military, albeit a short one. He left the military to go into private security. He took a job as a bodyguard. It seemed like an easy gig.... protect the daughter of some wealthy guy when she went away to college. He was told not to be intrusive, but just to keep an eye on her and protect her from any harm.... Simple you would think.

Every morning John would get up and meet her at the door of the condo that daddy had bought for her to live in. He would take her to campus and make sure she made it to her first class. Then for the remainder of the day he would hang out.... keeping an eye on her as she moved from class to class.

When she went to a party, or to a club he would be in the area, but she had made it clear that she didn't want him to interfere with her social life. They developed a pretty good relationship since they spent so much time together. It got to the point that he could tell when she thought he was being too intrusive without her saying it, so, he was able to stay out of her way.

One Friday night she told him that she was going to a club, and that he could have the night off. She was going to be with friends, and she would be fine. John thought he would enjoy some free time, but was uneasy about her going out on her own. Something just didn't feel right. John decided to follow her to the club and just sit outside in his car and keep an eye on things. It was a boring night... not much going on, when he noticed three men go into the club. They seemed out-of-place. They were older than the rest of the people who frequented the club. He got out of the car and went to the front door of the club.... just as the men were dragging her out of the club. He surprised them and was able to free her from them. They ran to his car and sped off. He made sure they were not being followed before taking her back to his apartment.

He called her father to inform him of what had happened. He was instructed to bring her home. When John got her home the butler said that her father wanted to see him in his office. John went into the office expecting to get a thank you and possibly even a bonus. What he got was fired. Her father said something about not doing enough to keep her out of trouble. John was sent away and told not to return.

John was shocked, and spent the next couple of weeks trying to figure out what he was going to do. He certainly wasn't going to get a letter of recommendation from his previous employer. He was reading through a soldier of fortune magazine. He was not really into that, but he enjoyed reading about some of the missions that were described. He noticed an ad for a security firm looking for former military for positions around the world. Before John knew it, he was hired. He became a mercenary..... fighting for causes that he didn't believe in.... just for the money. It left him hollow, but it left his pockets, and his bank account full.

"I can't believe what you did dad, John saved my life and this is how you repay him" I shouted and slammed the door shut. Nobody knew the full story of what had happened that night - not my dad, not even John who knew me best of all.

In college I had started to rebel and secretly hanging out with the wrong kind of crowd - outwardly I was always daddy's good little girl. It all went well until I met Raul, he was really nice to me and got me trying drugs and alcohol he got through his father. I had heard from friends Raul's father was bad news but I didn't believe them until it was too late.

The club I was at that Friday night was controlled by Raul's dad and his gang, they organized some illegal gambling and supplied cocaine to any VIP customers. I was having a great time until suddenly I sensed the mood changed. Esteban - Raul's father walked in with a business partner clearly drunk. He looked around the room and when he spotted me walked straight over and grabbed my arm leading me to a back room.

I got really worried and tried to call John without getting noticed but couldn't find my cell phone in my bag.

Esteban locked the door and told me to sit down in one of the leather seats. "I was hoping I'd find you here" he spoke softly. "You know, over these last few months we've given you a nice time with Raul - all the drink and drugs you wanted" he continued as he took a few steps closer "don't you think it is time to give us some pleasure".

I noticed his friend stare at me and moving his hand down his trousers while Esteban grabbed hold of my top and tried to pull it down. I jumped up and shouted "no!" trying to force my way back into the club.

They grabbed hold of me, carrying me outside and tried to abduct me. Thats when John stepped in and saved me.

John was more than hired help or a bodyguard to me, he was the first guy I could really trust and was always there for me unlike my father.

I've been living in fear and stayed inside my apartment as much as possible after the incident. A few days ago I got a worrying letter though and felt I needed to reach out to John to help out.

John followed the career of Jackson Grey. He was amazed at his rise to US Ambassador to Italy. John wondered how Kassie liked Italy. After all, he followed the career of Jackson Grey in order to keep a connection to Kassie.

John's current mission took him to the Middle East. He was working to gather intelligence for one of the warlords. Not exactly the idealism of the military career he once had, but the money was much better. He was also able to gather a lot of intelligence in this position. He didn't have a loyalty to anything except the money.

While spending a little time relaxing in Dubai, John saw a news report about the US Ambassador to Italy. He turned the tv up, and he learned that the report was about the kidnapping of the Ambassador's daughter. "What the fuck," he said out loud.... not meaning to. John knew something was up. He took out his cell phone and made several calls to associates to see if he could get any information. It was too early for anything definitive, but it appeared that the kidnapping had something to do with the Ambassador's financial situation.

John watched the CNN coverage of the kidnapping of the Ambassador's daughter while waiting for several of his associates to get back in touch with him. They had promised him that they would get back to him if they were able to get any pertinent information about the kidnapping. While watching the news coverage John went through the day that Jackson Grey had fired him. It just didn't make sense... still. John had done exactly what he was supposed to do... he protected Kassie. The more John thought about it, the more he believed that this was all set up by Jackson Grey.... but why? There was talk of financial problems..... there was talk of a business deal that didn't go well.

John's phone started to ring..... call after call from his associates indicated that there had been some inquiries made for a group of people of Middle Eastern descent to carry out a "significant" kidnapping. The fact that this happened led many in the know to believe that the Grey kidnapping was an inside job of some kind. There was not enough information at the moment to directly link Jackson Grey to the kidnapping of his daughter, but John believed there was no doubt he was involved.

John decided he was going to find out the who, what, where and why of Kassie's kidnapping. He knew that there would be US Intelligence agencies involved, but he felt he had an advantage. He had "friends" in the know. Before taking action he had to plan. He had to have a place to go once he found Kassie... he had to have new identities for each of them. He didn't have enough information to go looking for her yet, so, he made the arrangements for where they would go, and he got the paperwork together that they would need for their new identities. Then he waited..... he waited for the intelligence he needed to go get Kassie.

While John packed his bag and prepared to head off to whatever location was necessary to rescue Kassie, he kept the television on. He wanted to see what information Jackson Grey was going to put out there. John was firmly convinced that Jackson Grey was behind this, and after he found Kassie, John was going to make sure that Jackson Grey paid for what he had done.

As John was checking his weapons a breaking report came on the news. The talking head said that they had exclusive video of Kassie Grey being beaten by her abductors. John froze. As he watched the video of Kassie being interrogated and beaten his blood began to boil. People were going to pay..... they were going to pay dearly.

John started making phone calls. He was asking his sources to track the kidnappers and provide any intelligence on where they might be holding her. John told his associates that he was going to Spain, and he would contact them once he arrived there. John felt certain that Kassie hadn't been taken far. The video had been released too quickly for them to have taken her out of Europe, and Jackson Grey wouldn't want her to be far from his control.

John boarded a private plane that took him to Spain. He chartered the plane so that he could travel with his weapons. He had made so much money as a mercenary that he did not care what he had to spend to get Kassie back. He had already started assembling a team of the best mercenary talent available. He was certain he would get her back..... he was also certain that he would extract revenge for her.

John ran through numerous scenarios in his head as he flew from Dubai to Spain. He avoided trying to contact his associates during the flight, because he wanted to keep his head clear to think, and, besides, there was nothing he would be able to do with any updated information while he was in the air.

When the plane landed it taxied to a private hangar where several members of the team that had been assembled were waiting. There was a great deal of information that had been gathered, and they immediately started to share it with John. The best information was that they knew the location at which Kassie was being held. One of the associates had worked a prior mission with a member of the kidnap team.

They stood around a table on which a map and photos had been spread out. The map showed the area around the farm on which Kassie was being held. The photos were aerial reconnaissance photos of the buildings on the farm. Most everyone was in agreement that Kassie was being held in the barn, because that was the building around which the vehicles were parked.

The team developed a plan and started to load up the vehicles. The entry team would be dropped off on two different roads; each several miles from the barn. They would approach from opposite directions and meet outside of the barn; taking out any resistance they encountered as quietly as possible. John lead Team 1 as they surreptitiously moved toward the farm. John's last bit of instruction was that he wanted the leader captured..... John would find out from him who had hired them..... everyone, including the leader would eventually have to die for what John saw on the video that had been released.

The teams converged on the farm; encountering no resistance as they approached. Were these guys really that unprofessional that they did not set up any perimeter protection? It sure seemed that way.

As they approached the barn they did some reconnaissance. There were only two entry points and hey were at opposite ends of the barn. That created a problem with crossfire, so, they would have to be extremely careful if they got into a firefight.

John led Team 1 to the front entrance as team 2 moved to the rear. As Team 1 approached the front entrance two men walked out. They were dressed scruffily and were carrying automatic weapons. There was no choice but to take them out. John told Team 2 to go ahead and enter first as Team 1 dispatched the two men at their door.

After taking out the two men Team 1 entered the barn. There were shots ringing out and as John entered the barn there were two combatants trying to get out the door. John took them down and turned them over to members of his team with instructions to find out who their leader was and where he was located.

The teams converged on a large tank in the center of the barn. John heard over the radio that the leader was supposedly in the tank with Kassie and at least one other combatant.

They moved to the tank where he found two men standing behind Kassie. One was holding a gun to her head, screaming in broken English that he would kill her if they didn't back off. John just smiled. He now knew who the leader was. He raised his gun and shot the other guy right between the eyes... his bullet just missing the kidnap leader. "Do you want to be next?"

The kidnapper's leader let go of Kassie and she fell to the floor. He then dropped his gun. A member of John's team put zip ties on the wrists of the guy as John moved to Kassie. I whispered to her that it would be okay as he picked her up and carried her out of the tank.

John gave Kassie to several team members and had them take her to a doctor who would take care of her without telling anyone. John wasn't ready to turn care of Kassie over to anyone until he was certain of what had happened and who was responsible for her being taken.

John went back inside the tank. The Team 2 leader was interrogating the leader of the kidnappers. All of the other kidnappers were dead. The interrogation wasn't going well for the lone remaining kidnapper. The pain he was suffering was brutal. He started provide information, and just before he was put out of his misery, he revealed that Jackson Grey was the one who was responsible. Grey didn't care what they did, they just needed to send video evidence to him several times. In the end they were supposed to kill her and leave her body in a public place.

After the kidnapper was killed, John headed to the doctor's office to be with Kassie. The team members were paid for their service. John told them he would handle the rest on his own... at his own pace.

John sat in a chair next to Kassie's bed. Neither the doctor nor the nurse were allowed in the room unless John was there. At the moment he trusted nobody. It didn't matter if there was no connection to Jackson Grey prior, he was not going to trust anybody.

He watched as Kassie awakened. he saw her looking around. he knew that she would have no idea what was going on. He didn't want to startle her, so, he allowed her to slowly adapt . He saw her looking at her bandaged wrists. Her reaction told him that at that moment Kassie realized that what she had been through had not been a dream.

John moved to the side of Kassie's bed. "Ssshhhh, relax Kassie. It will be ok." He tried to keep her from getting too upset. "Relax. You are going to be fine. I am going to take care of everything. I am going to take care of you."
