Rescue Mission (closed-pm if interested)

Power watched as she made the phone call. He was confused as to what was going on. When she said that she would be spending more time with him, he was shocked. "What is going on? What is this all about? Why all of this secretive shit? Do they really think I am going to say anything?"

He thought about his condo. He had a one bedroom condo on the top floor of his building. He never needed anything more. Well, he would probably be sleeping on the sofa for a while. Despite his displeasure with having her following him, there was no way he could have her sleep on the sofa. "I have a bed for you."

"I could think of a lot of worse people to be stuck with. I actually won't consider it being stuck with you. I will, however, need more information, but I can wait until later to get it."

He sat back in the seat and wondered about what was going on. He had just started his investigation in Brazil and he couldnt imagine what he uncovered that would bring so much heat down on him.

They hurried through the airport, his one person security detail getting them through without havign to go through security. They were the last ones on the plane, and onece they were airborne, he fell asleep...his head falling onto his bodyguard's shoulder.

The flight went quickly. Of course, he slept through it, so, that helped pass the time. When they got to his car, he started to go to the driver's seat, but was surprised when she asked for the keys. He didn't dare resist, so, he handed them over.

When they arrived at his condo, they took the express elevator to the top floor. He knew there would be a problem when they got there. She wasn't going to be happy with one bedroom. It would be okay. There were clean sheets on the bed. The housekeeper came twice a week whether he was home or not.

When they walked into the condo, he pointed at the bedroom. "You will be in there. I will grab a couple of pillows and sleep on the sofa." He did not wait for her reply. He was not going to discuss it with her. There was no way he was letting her sleep on the sofa.

"First of all, this is my place, and I will decide who sleeps where. You may be the security expert, but this is my house...therefore, my rules. There is no debating it. I don't care where your orders came from, they don't decide what happens here." He stared at her. He was tired of having no say in what goes on in his life for the last 5 weeks. He was going to take control of what he could.

"Secondly, I appreciate everything that you have done for me, and what you are doing for me now. I know I am not allowed to talk about it, but what you did was incredible, and I owe you my life. There is no way I could ever repay you for that. I am fine with you being here, and I understand that you don't know all of the details nor how long you will be with me. I will thank you in advance for your protection here."

Power was happy that she didn't put up a fight about his demands for the sleeping arrangements. "I lept on the plane. I am pretty sure you didn't. By the way, I am sorry that i ended up with my head on your shoulder. I am sure that didn't make for a comfortable flight for you."

He listened to her security instructions, but she really didn't have to give them. he wasn't an idiot. "Listen, since we are going to be spending a lot of time together, it would only be right if I knew your name." He realized at that moment that he didn't know her name. She knew his, obviously, but she had not shared hers with him.

Once she gave him her name. He said to her, "Jessi, you are welcome to anything in that room. There are button down shirts in the closet. There are t-shirts and shorts in the dresser. I am certain they will be big on you, but it will at least be something clean for you to sleep in."

Power sat on the sofa and ran the recent events through his mind. He had no idea how he got into this position, but he had to deal with it. There was nothing that could have ever led him to believing that he would have a Special Forces operative as a personal bodyguard. Of course, how could he complain about having such an attractive woman following him around.

He got up off the sofa, and went into the kitchen to get a glass of water. He was upset with himself that he had not offered Jessi anything to drink, or eat. He just offered her his bed....not in a bad way though. Of course, now that he thought of that, he imagined her undressing in his room and then putting on one of his shirts. A smile came to his face imagining that.

When Power laid down on the sofa, his mind started racing wildly. He started playing back the events in the Brazilian jungle in his head. They had only arrived that day and were driving along a trail in the jungle when they were stopped by two trucks loaded with men in military uniforms and AK47s. He was trying to figure out what all of this was about.

He didn't sleep much. When his mind was not on what happened in Brazil before, during and after his capture, it was on the beautiful woman who was in his bedroom. He wondered if she put on one of his shirts. He thought about her undressing and slipping under his covers. He knew she was not interested in him, but, her looks, strength and brains had certainly captured his attention.

He felt the sun shining through the windows and decided that any further attempt at sleep was futile. He went into the kitchen and made a pot of coffee. Power wasn't sure if his sexy bodyguard drank coffee, but he made plenty, in case she did. When she came out of his room, he was sitting on the sofa in just a pair of boxerbriefs. He reached and pulled the blanket over him. "Sorry. I did not expect you up this early."

As he watched her walk into the kitchen, Power pulled his pants on. He stood up, pulled th epants up and watched as she poured coffee. As she took her first sip, he allowed his eyes to wander over her body. Damn, it was going to be hard having her around here and being off limits.

"I don't need to stay couped up in here. I am fine with going with you." He wasnt interested in spending the day inside. Going out with Jessica was not going to be a burden. hell, he would enjoy going with her. It would give him some time with her. Maybe he would even have an opportunity to learn something about her. For all he knew, he was having unclean thoughts about a married woman.

It was odd to ride around town in his own car with Jessica driving. Power understood her going around and buying things for herself. Obviously, she needed a change of clothes and other items that he wouldn't have at his place. When they rode across town and stopped at the pawn shop, Power wondered what that was about.

He sat in the car. He had an idea of what was going on while Jessica went inside, but he wasn't positive. He thought about the fact that he had not seen a weapon on her and was pretty sure she was arming herself. He was more impressed with her having connections in town.

"I know a great place for breakfast, but it is not around here. It is actually just down the street from my condo. We can park the car back in the garage and walk. They have the best coffee around. I think it is better than McDonald's and their coffee is great."

He was not surprised when she found a stash of weapons. He had been pretty certain that she had something in the works. He was not afraid, nor was he intimidated. He had seen her work in South America, and he knew she could handle herself very well. He probably should be afraid and intimidated by her. She was very good. However, there was something about her that made him feel at ease and relaxed.

"I would say, after you, but I am sure I would get reprimanded. So, I will lead the way, ma'am."

Power sat across from Jessica and watched her closely. She was very attractive, and she was on her game at the moment. He could see her eyes moving non-stop. He coud tell that being in public was making her uncomfortable. He felt that the control that she exuded with her attitude made her even more attractive.

"Anything breakfast is good here. Of course, I am sure you don't eat in these kinds of places that often. A figure like yours and a greasy spoon usually don't go together, but my favorite here is the eggs and sausage with a side of homefries."

Power took a drink of his water as he looked into Jessica's eyes. He noticed that she was focused on him and not on their surroundings for a moment. He wondered if his comment was what had her focused on him now. He thought about how attractive she was, and her eyes were mesmerizing.

"I have been doing the news since I got out of college. I started out at little local stations. Then, I moved to a couple of big city stations until I got my first gig with the network. Since then I have been working on the big stories, but they lost their interest. I wanted to do some investigative reporting, which is what led me to South America and ultimately to you."

He took another drink of his water and then he sipped his coffee. He never took his eyes off of hers. She was so easy on the eyes, and he was happy that she was the one responsible for protecting him. "After breakfast, you need to go back and take a nap. I will be fine while you nap."

Power watched Jessica tear into her food. He watched her devour the meal as he took his time. He assumed that she was conditioned to eat quickly because of her line of work. If she was focused on food then she couldn't be focused on her task. As he watched her, he was amazed at how attractive he thought she was even as she stuffed her face.

"I was reading about the conditions down there and decided that was where I wanted to go and do the story. Corporate executives tried to talk me out of it. Then, they told me they weren't going to let me go. So, I told them fine. I quit and would do the story on my own as a freelancer. They relented because they didn't want to lose me. I thought it would be hard to find a cameraperson, but it really wasn't. So, yes, I guess you could say I am impulsive. I go after what I want, and I usually get it."
