It was almost bitterly cold as Sophie Marceau made her way down a snow covered street. She was dressed as to not gain attentions from the soldiers that were moving past. Her blonde hair was done in the latest style, a stylish hat perched at a jaunty angle on her head. Her coat was done up tight, hands in her pockets covered in soft leather gloves. She wore a knee length skirt and sensible heels. An attractive woman, what most people noticed about her first were her eyes. They were a deep blue color and besides that there was almost nothing remarkable about her.

That suited Sophie just fine. In her line of work, she didn’t need to be remarkable. In the months that her country had been invaded by the Germans, her ability to blend had served her well. She was a member of La Resistance, fighting against those that had taken over her beautiful city. Paris was almost unrecognizable. It was full of soldiers and many of her friends were being taken away to camps because they were either Jewish or members of the resistance as well.

She was on a mission that day. She had been told she was going after someone of great importance to the Etat Francais. She was in Vichy, a spa town in the middle of France, searching for the home of Petain. Once there, she had her orders. She prayed that she would make it back out again. She simply wanted this all to end. It all seemed like such a horrible nightmare.
