Needless to say, it makes me feel totally unsexy...probably the reason for my long, long hiatus from Lit

However, France was a treat My consolation for not being able to drink the wine was that no scientific tests have yet proven that chocolate mousse is harmful to a fetus

Of course, it didn't quite help that it got up to 32-34 degrees for two of the three weeks we were there I might have enjoyed that under normal circumstances, but not with a freaking pregnant metabolism that has jacked my normal body heat up to furnace level

Anyway, I hope everyone has been well. Subo and Shereads, I hope that the hurricanes have spared you this season, and that so far all you have to contend with is the summer heat and not the killer tempests.

Turk, set me up with a V8, please. I'm just coming off a vicious attack of diverticulitis. I'd like to whine about it, but I'm too grateful that it's over. I may actually risk chewable food later on today. Broth, jello and yogurt are all good for you but I like to wrap my molars around something.

Arioso, so good to know that lolling in the provinces was good for your soul. Don't be surprised if your new addition develops an appreciation for Voltaire and Matisse. Being male, I can only relate vicariously, of course, but the birth of my son was the finest moment of my life. What an adventure on which you are about to embark.

HT, consolations, but real football is almost upon us.

The first tropical storm, Alberto, went north of us and just gave us some well needed rain. We had a tropical wave drench us for a couple days and I see it's grown in the Atlantic to now bother the East coast. I'm crossing my fingers this year.

It isn't only pregancy that can make a woman feel unsexy...I have a whole list of reasons. Hence, my delay in speaking up and my own absence from Lit. As to all those things that make you uncomfortable, you have my most profound symapthies. My son was born on July 5th...*shudders*...Hot & Humid can't even begin to describe Indiana in the summer. In the Bible Belt, no less! "Women were meant to suffer in childbirth. It's our punishment for the sins of Eve." Or something like that, I've tried to supress the memories. The good news is that you'll forget all about this discomfort in time. Labor will completely block out minor things like gas.

Ok....that was mean. I'm sorry. May I fetch you a cool drink? A parasol to shade your tender skin? A soft kiss on your lovey throat to remind you of just how very sexy you are?
