Friday follies

Turk, pour me a cold one. I just came back from giving a deposition. It was a first for me and from what the DA said, there'll probably be a trial and I'll have to testify. I had the dubious privilage of being in a bank when it was robbed last year and then picked a suspect out of the lineup. There'll be a lot of inconvenience but ya gotta do what's right. It's all new to me, but I'll be able to use it in class once it's all over.

Today I'm going to watch the NFL playoffs on my new toy--my new 46 inch plasma flat screen TV. Self indulgence can be sooooooooo sweet. The only thing that can compete with that is a seductive Roofette

I'm a huge fan of 98 Poems, which was his last work. It's much more introspective, and deals heavily with man's mortality and the fleetingness of existence. Poetry's rather eaten my finances, though - the sheer amount of money I spent at Borders the other day is, in a word, deplorable.

That's me, the Silver tongued Devil, lol. alas, my beard's getting that way too. It used to be "salt and pepper" but lately I've been running out of pepper. It won't keep me from flirting, though, it keeps me young at heart if not in reality.

I've spent my fair share at Borders as well. It's money well spent. "Remember what the dormouse said, 'feed your head.' " That was before your time but it's still true.

In its heyday, Rick's was a bustling, vibrant network for some of the very best writers here on Lit. It's not quite as bustling as it once was, but I still like to drop by for ambience and memories. I found lots of delightful writing partners here for my threads and was seduced into quite a few by others. In our busier days, we limited ourselves to three posts a day but in these slower days, I think we can make an exception.

In the meantime, Turk, our resident bartender and renegade rake, will keep the cold brews coming.

Ariosto, welcome back. It's so good to see our illustrious founder gracing the boards again. The SRP is in dire need of your august presence. I'm down to one thread myself. That's probably good as I just signed up for 60 hours of online classes to be completed by April.

I also have 160 portfolios to grade and a quarter exam to write by Monday.

HT, Subo and Ari all at once! Why that’s nearly more manliness that any gently bred woman can withstand…luckily, I’m far from gently bred. So I’ll just sit over here in the corner and drool a little.

Ari, you absolutely should show up more often…a lot of us should. I do miss the days when Ricks was a regular stopping point on the Internet, and not just an occasional destination. I guess we all just go too busy with the real world, and I, for one, let reality take over and stopped playing all together. It’s a sad life I lead, no new threads, no new ideas, and well, we won’t even discuss my love life…or lack thereof. *sigh* I’m not sure, but I think I may be getting old.

Turk, bring me something from the top shelf, I’m going to see if the hot tub still works.
