Sales Figures (closed)

Jason Walker

Name: Jason Walker, Age: 40.

Jason strode purposefully down the coridoor. Although he missed the army, he loved the feeling of being eastablished again, back in the sales environment.

The competition was the thing, the buzz that motivated him. In the army, it was the determination to prove he was the best. Jason knew he was good, he had proved he could clinch the big deals, when it mattered.

His air of confidence, that he was 'the man', radiated around him and influenced those around him. Other members of the office staff moved out of his way as he walked towards the Finance Office.

Jason needed some sales data, now. He should have emailed a request through his boss and waited for the response, but his boss was on holiday with his family and besides, you have to grab the opportunities while they are available.

If he waited, the Holman deal might fall through. he needed to prove to their Board that he can provide the volumes they need at the prices they'll accept.

As he looked at the office, he saw her, Jane? No - Jan. No - Jenn! Jenn!

He needed to keep her sweet - he wanted these numbers quickly.

He ran one hand through his buzz-cut hair and tapped on her office door.
"Hi! Jenn - Jason Walker. I need to ask your help in getting hold of some sales numbers for a big meeting. Can you help me please?"

Jason held out his hand, for her to shake, as they hadn't actually met before, but he'd heard of her.

He wondered how long this was going to take...

"OK. I know usually, I have to go through my boss, but he's on holiday with his family."

After a pause he added:

"I really need those numbers, for the end of tomorrow to incorporate into my presentation to the Holman Board. If you could prepare them for me, I'd be deeply in your debt - how could I make it up to you?"

Jason knew he had a reputation for being pushy, but then, most salespeople have to be.

"Wow! Really? That would be great!"

He then stepped closer, and rested his hand lightly on hers.

"Thanks! - It's a big deal, for me, as well as the company. The presentation will need to be something else to convince them to go with us, rather than our closest rivals. How about I take you to dinner, Friday night, to say thank-you?"

"I'll look forward to seeing those numbers tomorrow morning. I'm in early working on the presentation. I'll see you then?"

He looked her over appreciatively, and gently removed his hand. As he turned to go, he paused and said:

"Jenn?"
As she looked up at him again, he added "Don't take this the wrong way, but I'm glad I caught you today. I had no idea financial people could be so approachable. Oh, and those glasses you wear - I love that look. It really suits you!"

At that moment his phone rang, and he retrieved it from his pocket to answer it, and sheepishly waved 'goodbye', as he strode away.

Jason wandered into work at 7am. He'd risen early (in more ways than one, whilst thinking of Jenn in that hot skirt suit wearing her glasses, whilst showering) that morning and wanted to look over those figures Jenn had promised him.

He also wanted to check out her legs, as she walked into his office, so he was a little disappointed to find she had finished the report and was nowhere to be found. He saw a time-stamp on the final page of the report, which said '4.08am'.

'Damn! She's dedicated!' He thought. Even in the army, he hadn't done many all-nighters, even on patrol. He really had to make it up to her!

He put the report down on his desk, and went to find some fresh coffee. As he was filling the machine, he imagined Jenn in a navy blue skirt suit, with black stockings, and high heels, bent over her desk, coquettishly chewing on the end of a pen, looking at a spreadsheet.

The Sales Director's P.A., Holly walked in, and openly checkied him out, and her eyes widened a little, as she viewed his crotch.

'Oops!' He thought, 'I better focus on work, or I'm gonna have trouble walking!'

"Morning Holly - I'll be in my office."

He sat down and looked through the neatly laid out rows of numbers and explanations. It was meticulously prepared, but for the Holman Board, it needed more impact- but how, what?

As Jason sipped his coffee, and mulled it over, it came to him. He should ask Jenn to go with him to the meeting and she could present her numbers, with all the understanding behind them. The Holman board would not be able to resist both her and Jason courting them for business. He knew the bid was his best yet!

Only one problem - Jenn was an office person - would she accompany him to the Holman board meeting. Could she do it?

He'd have to ask her later in the day when he saw her. He dialled her number and left a voicemail:

"Jenn, Hi - it's Jason, I wanted to say 'Thanks' for the report you completed for me, it's really good, well laid out, with clear explanations, but I want to ask you to go with me. For a pitch this big, I need a real financial head in there with me, to field any tricky questions. I can deal with the day to day stuff, but Holmans are top of the heap. Can you call me, as soon as you can, please?"

Jason was on the 'phone when a harried looking Jenn dashed down the coridoor towards the sales office, her heels clicking on the tiled floor.

He saw her coming and knew it couldn't be good news.

"Daryl - I'll call you back, OK? Something's just happened here."

Jason hung up and stood from behind his desk.

"Hi Jenn - you OK?"

Jason walks over to the door and closes it behind him, then motions for her to sit on the leather sofa in his office.

"Jenn - take a breath......calm down!"

He sits down next to her.

"I'll still be leading the pitch - you would just cover the financial highlights. It would be more convincing comeing form you, that's all!"

He reaches over and pats her hand, reassuringly.

"Jenn, I need to be honest with you. I have realised that none of my other colleagues understand that your knowledge of our customers' accounts is vital to our continued success."

Dan paused for thought, before continuing.

"I want to include you in the process going forward to ensure that we make the most out of every business opportunity."

He then got up from the sofa and walked to the coffee machine, in the corner, motioning to the jug of freshly brewed Colombian, asked "Would you like a cup?"

He poured his own cup, as he appraised her. 'She really had now idea of how alluring she is' he thought, appreciating how her light grey skirt suit flattered her colouring and showed off her great legs.

But that would change...soon she would know.

Jason smiled back.
"It's my pleasure, Jenn. I should have thought of it long ago."
He stood as she turned to leave.
"I'll start working on our pitch, Jenn. I'll let you know when I've got a version we can rehearse together, OK?"

As she left, he sat back in his chair and watched her walk away, up the coridoor to her office.
Her pert ass & slender hips swaying in the skirt, kept his attention for a few seconds, before he realised she might turn around and catch him staring.

He sighed and took another sip of his coffee and tried to think of a suitable introduction.

He also wondered if she liked Italian, or Chinese, or maybe she had another favourite type of food?
He also allowed his mind to wander - and fantasised about what she wore under that suit!

He shook himself out of his daydream, and scribbled a few lines on his jotter pad, trying to start the presentation. After several attempts, he settled on simplicity itself.
"Holman Corporation. Welcome To Your Future - More Profit."

He started to pen the contents of the presentation, covering the product range Jason sold, and the benefits of each sub-range, together with costs and any promotional deals he could offer. He also set aside a small section entitled 'Financials', which is where Jenn could really shine, and talk to their Accounts Manager in his own language. This would follow the summary of the report she had prepare for him previously.

He already had much of the content, but it was the stitching it all together which was vital, and proving time-consuming.

Afte a couple of hours, he was nearer his goal. He took a break - and another coffee, and rang Jenn.

When she answered he said:
"Hi Jenn, it's Jason, just wanted to ask what kind of food you prefer, so I know what to book for Friday night, you know, dinner as a thank-you?"

"French? Wow.....OK...I've never eaten at a French Restaurant before. This could be quite an experience for both of us!"

He was a little surprised. Maybe she was testing him, to see if he'd go through with it.
Suddenly it occurred to him that perhaps she also fancied him, and the ambience of a French restaurant would help calm her nerves!

"OK, Jenn, I'll see what I can find for us, I want you to enjoy it! Bye!"

He hung up the 'phone and checked his computer listings for French Restaurants, then started looking at reviews.

He eventually settled on 'La Maison', which was described as a 'Traditional French Dining Experience, with live music, and dancing, after dinner'. The address was not far out of town, so he was surprised he'd never heard of it.

Instead of calling Jenn again, which might get people talking, he emailed her:
Jenn, have booked 'La Maison' between here and Petersfield, for 8.30 on Friday night. If you'd give me your address, I can ask the cab driver to pick you up on the way?

He also added the web address for the restaurant, so she could see what was in store.

He wondered how she'd react. Had he been a bit too presumptuous?

Dan didn't really have too many chances to speak to Jenn until Friday afternoon, what with a meeting with the Sales Director to update him on progress of several large accounts, including Holaman's; and a few meetings with clients to update them on new product releases and to encourage them to allocate more space in their stores to us to showcase them.

He had seen her briefly, sat at her desk, as he wandered past her office, but she seemed deeply engrossed in something, so he didn't want to interrupt her train of thought.

Later that Friday afternoon, he was walking back down the coridoor and saw her just put down the 'phone. He knocked briefly on the doorframe, taking in the sight of her in another skirt suit, with her stockinged shapely calves and high-heeled feet visible under the desk.

"Hi! All set for tonight? I'm going to wear smart casual - you know, no tie, but a jacket and a nice pair of trousers. I managed to get us a private dining booth."

Jason stood as she approached the table, waving away the waiter who approached to guide her - she was doing OK on her own! She looked amazing!

Her black lace dress hugged her figure perfectly.

He moved to the opposite side of the table and pulled her chair out for her to sit, leaning in for a brief kiss on the cheek, nothing presumptuous, but a gesture of friendship, in his eyes.

"I rang on your doorbell, when my cab stopped at your place, but there was no answer. I could see the light on upstairs, and hear the shower running, so I guessed you were in the shower."

He paused before explaining:
"I got your call, to say to meet you here, so thanks for letting get a ber in first! What would you like to drink?"

He gestured for a waiter, who walked over briskly.

"A drink Mademoiselle? " He enquired.

Dan hoped she would approve of his attire - a light grey jacket over pale blue shirt, and light grey trousers.
