I have to go out tomorrow and I think I'll look for some beef brains. I'm not doing the sandwich though because you have to deep fry the whole thing. There's a restaurant here that makes them. Or used to make them. It was a very popular item.

No, a teacher I worked with would pick them up for us. She had a lunch period right after her planning period, so someone would escort her class to lunch for her. It became a monthly treat.

We were a couple of blocks from Crown Candy Kitchen too and that was both good and bad.

How do you make them DGO - I usually make them into patties -

boil and chop into decent size pieces - then saute with onions - red chilly pepper flakes - then toss in some cilantro - finally crumb them and shallow fry

Most people got their famous chili, but I got the egg salad sandwiches and a banana malt. Their ice cream is to die for. When I played with the music teacher's ensemble we rehearsed at Ames and I'd stop after rehearsal and get a malt.

I grew up with them scrambled with eggs. That's the way I cook them now. I might try your way one day.
