I want to thank everyone for stopping by and sending their thoughts, prayers and well wishes.
The surgery went well, I am home and resting comfortably, thanks to the wonders of modern pharmaceuticals. The doc took a largish, football shaped, chunk of meat from my left shoulder, about 7cm x 3 cm, and did a lot of stitching to pull it all together.
As Tori said "It's a good thing you used to be a lot bigger, that stretched skin let her pull you back together easier than if she she had to work with originally skinny skin."
I think she was trying to say that my weight loss has been a good thing.
And I get to go back and have a smaller sized repeat in a week. Oh joy! As long as the original surgery got everything, that one is a done deal, if not, they'll open it back up and get another layer. Ugh!
For those not familiar with my medical history, I had two skin cancers (basal cell carcinomas - the least dangerous, most easily treated skin cancer) removed several years ago. Both tumors were on my face, caught early and I was no more ugly AFTER the surgeries than before, so that's a good thing. In fact, I think the dermatologist tightened me up some so I was less wrinkly...
This ugly bastard was melanoma though.
That's the most dangerous and fastest growing skin cancer. Caught early (Tori noticed the original skin patch and kept an eye on it, and I was referred to the dermatologist after my annual physical in August) and treated swiftly and aggressively my prognosis is very good.
The second spot found this time is "atypical" - meaning pre-cancerous, so that one is going to get gone ASAP.
I might get Tori to take a pic of the scar and stitches in a couple of days for all you sick, twisted, scar fans. Perverts! That's why I love ya!

I may sleep for the next five days but hell if it won't be good sleep!
