I watched him filming something once, think it was part of something he was doing with Charlie Boorman. Couldn't get anywhere near them....:D
 
Being a Scot in Canada, I can't vote, but I would be for Independence. It's no longer about the long standing feud that has existed for centuries, it's about being the country it was always meant to be. It's come to a point where that can happen and the majority feel that way, that calling the shots on their lives and not shuffled down the list, looks the better way to go. Scotland makes the money that England spends, so we feel it's time to keep more of what we make and better our own country before the others.

All I can say is, if we do gain our independence, the Union Jack is going to look pretty blah without the Saltire in it. Slainte.

Secondly they receive more money per person to live in a cheap country than other citizens on the same equal footing.:rolleyes:

Scottish seats in a British parliament have kept the labour party as a big player In westminster..But they don't impose those laws on the Scott due to Devo max..

I have no dogs in this fight, but if that's what the majority of Scots want, that's what they'll eventually have.
Would the British Monarch still be the titular head of an independent Scotland?
 
If I thought a newly independent Scotland would embrace the laissez faire, classical liberal policies of their Scottish forefathers like Adam Smith, I would say go for it...but based on the comments of Salmond and other leaders of the Yes movement who appear to embrace more socialist vision than already exists, I would vote no. Given the lack of a strong economic base to sustain such a vision, the lack of strong currency once they are booted from the pound, and the likelihood they won't be accepted into the EU (not that I am a fan of the European Union), given the adverse repercussions that might be caused in other regions, I think they should stick with the rest of Great Britain. Probably not the type of answer you were looking to get.

Sidenote: I may not look like it but I do come for Scottish stock a few generations back.

This isn't a vote about independence, but a vote of discontent about Westminster, and English politicians specifically. So how do they go about sorting out the mess the politicians have created? By asking the same politicians. It's like throwing the keys of the fire truck to a fucking pyromaniac.

A Scot friend said she didn't think she was represented by Westminster - I said join the fucking club. She said Scotland needed more power, I said to do what exactly? We're all pissed off with the people in power - they're all pigs at the trough, so adding more troughs doesn't solve the problem - it hasn't in Europe.

Maybe what we need is one big trough to attract all the piggies in one place and shoot the whole fucking lot in one go.
 
I'm American and so by definition am fairly oblivious to international politics, but I vote yes. Only because I think David Cameron is an elitist ass. Oh and because I actually like haggis. And my family are Scottish from way way back.

That's my educated vote.
 
I reckon the English should be allowed to vote. It affects us as much as the Scots......
