Scotty's Been Beamed Up

One last thought or mission? Why does everyone take death as such an awful and horrid thing? It is not.

So right, death isn't awful. I think that many may feel that way because of the fear of the unknown, or the grief of loosing a loved one. I may be completely wrong but I've noticed that in general people in the west deal with death much differently than those in the east.

To me death is a natural part of life. I mourn those who I have lost but I also celebrate their life.

Doohan died at 5:30 a.m. (1330 GMT) at his Redmond, Washington, home with his wife of 28 years, Wende, at his side, Los Angeles agent and longtime friend Steve Stevens said. The cause of death was pneumonia and Alzheimer's disease, he said.

***

Alzheimer's is a painful way to die. May he go trekking through the stars in peace.

"Warp Factor Five, Scotty!"

Jame Doohan was a regular on the local stations around here before he made it known he was ill, he used to be poked fun at for living next to "Kirkland"...he had that spark that drove his entire life to seek out new things, meet new people, and boldly go where he hadn't gone before!

His life was the inspiration for all his characters, and I salute the D-Day Veteran Doohan too. *salute*

Fare thee well, James B Doohan....a friend I never knew.

No it's not, and I don't think most people see it that way. It's an awful and horrid thing for those left behind (I mean loved ones and family and friends), who have this person in their lives one day, then suddenly they are gone, and they miss them, and hurt and grieve. :(

You got it darling, death only hurts those left behind to grieve... what I would say to those close to me on my death-bed is that famous quote by I can't remember who... I aint going anywhere, I'll just be in the next room waiting for you.

Anyway, rest in peace next door Scottie :( You gave a lot of people a lot of entertainment.

I was surprised how much the news of his death affected me. Maybe it was learning he was a WW II vet and died from Alzheimer's related problems. But he always seemed like one of those rare actors you wouldn't mind having a beer or two with while shooting the shit.

Pops, everyone else has already said, welcome back. I read in one of your new posts that the absence was due to the mating season being a bit time consuming this year. Makes sense. The only thing is you didn't say whether it was your mating season or the parrot's. Whatever the case, I'm glad you're back you old fart.
