secretly subby celebritites

In my opinion the media is inundated with doms, male and female. Makes the occasional subby celeb stick out even further.
This could be why I'm having a hard time recalling easily recognizable examples for the thread.

The blonde in the 2004 movie Sideways came across to me as a lovely submissive. She ends up with a totally unworthy incompetent, though.

Your photo of Amanda Seyfried is adorable. My tastes these days run a bit older, but I see what you mean.

I haven't seen Sideways.

Are there really so few subs in the mainstream? I feel like I can think of more males than females, that Joey character from Friends seemed like the subby type.

Dave Navarro has publicly admitted to being submissive in sexual relationships and being involved in BDSM. (Which is SO fucking hot, and almost brings out a "Domme urge" in me.)

Now their's a huge shock. NOT! Well, I didn't know he's submissive, but I'm not surprised he's kinky.

It's an annoying film, for multiple reasons.

I'm not much of a TV fan, but have heard a lot of people say that standard sitcom fare involves a doofus guy paired with a smarter, savvier, controlling girlfriend or wife. Sort of a gender flip of the old Ricky & Lucy Ricardo dynamic.

Have you seen the LOTR films? The Arwen/Aragorn pairing came off as hinting at Domme/sub to me - not in the books, but in the screen version of the trilogy.

Oh, really? I liked it. I think primarily for the performances. I just love Sandra Oh, and I thought Paul Giamatti was just so good. His reaction when his ex-wife told him she was pregnant. Hearbreaking.

As to this thread, I'm glad it's developed a bit, because I was beginning to think subby celebrity was just code for jailbait.

I always thought....

Trent Reznor was probably pretty subby. Marilyn Manson throws off a strong switch vibe to me....not sure why exactly. I have also always thought that there was something pretty submissive about Keanu Reeves, but maybe it's just me....

Happy New Year everyone, and be safe tonight!

Ha ha, yes and yes!

I don't watch a lot of sitcoms either, but that does seem to be the formula America has fallen in love with. Two examples that come to mind: Everybody Loves Raymond and The King of Queens. Now I've never watched a full episode of either, but what I've seen fits your description perfectly.

And yes, actually I thought of it during the Arwen/Aragorn portrayal in the movies as well. I'm trying to remember how their relationship was portrayed in the book, but I do remember being surprised at how the relationship was portrayed in the movie.

Oh well, variety makes the world go around. Even if I was the one in charge of making the LOTR movies, I'm not sure I would change that. What I would like to see is more of the kind of female/make dynamic I actually enjoy being a part of though, a little more balance.

There was a time recently where I was on a huge Hitchcock kick because these old movies were filled with dainty, needy, coy little women who were quite enamored with these bold, charismatic, handsome and usually a little obnoxious jerks.

Do anybody else think that Anne Rice have dabbled with BDSM??

If she hasn't she has a very active fantasy life.
Yes she sure does!!

I recently "found" the sleeping beauty trilogy as audio books somehow have found their way to my computer as audio books:eek:

 IT'S BIG BROTHER! HE'S CORRUPTING THE POPULATION! AAAAAAAAAAAH

:p

Brad Pitt is an uber-sub. I've misplaced the website, but he's notorious for changing his image (physical and mental) to match the persona of all of his paramours. He's gone from preppy, to crunchy vegan, to elitist, and now he's a miniature Angelina Jolie would-be messiah...

And if he's willing to sublimate his own persona for the benefit of his lover's, I can easily see him pulling off one of these numbers.
