Evangeline was sure her life was now perfect.
If you were to ask anyone that knew her, they would say that her life has always been perfect.
She was blessed with good genes that gave her long legs that made her height to 5’6”. Hazel eyes that would sparkle in the sunlight. Dirty blonde hair that mimicked light brown but showed their true color of golden sunlight in the sun.
Evangeline was the youngest and the only girl in the family, other than her mother, as she had two older brothers, Michael and Andrew, that liked to remind the world that she was their precious little sister. She grew up playing in the mud, running around with her older brothers but her mother wanted her only daughter to at act more womanly as her body would slowly become more feminine.
So her mother enrolled Evangeline in ballet, tap and jazz lessons but they never stuck with Evangeline. The only thing that did was figure skating.
The moment 7 year old Evangeline walked on the ice, even if it was in her brother’s old ice hockey gear, she fell in love with it. And soon every waking moment was on the ice.
By the time Evangeline’s body had turned into a woman and her breasts had filled into a full C36, she had competed at Nationals and had a wall full of trophies and medals. She never had the dream of going to the Olympics, she knew that she was never that good. She loved figure skating, but it wasn’t her career, it wasn’t her life.
No, instead she had aspirations of going to college and attending medical school. She wanted to become a doctor, she wanted to save lives.
But it wasn’t her parents that always showered her with love, her older brothers that always protected her, her picture perfect report cards, her nickname “ice princess”, that made everyone in high school think that she had the picture perfect life…
It was her relationship with her boyfriend…
Tommy…
They were the epitome of young love. They both grew up together, their family were close friends. Her older brothers even coached Tommy in sports. If it wasn’t for the fact that Evangeline’s brothers knew Tommy since he was in diapers they would have most likely made Tommy’s life a living hell the moment Tommy laid his lips on Evangeline’s.
But her brothers knew the most embarassing secrets of Tommy and had scared him well enough that Tommy knew that if he hurt Evangeline they would both hurt Tommy both physically and emotionally that he would never see the light of day.
It wasn’t until Tommy and Evangeline were in high school that they actually noticed each other. And on a fateful summer night they finally kissed which sealed the deal for them to become high school sweethearts.
They were inseparable, wherever she was, he was. If she had 6 am figure skating practices at the rink, he was there at her house to pick her up at 5:30 in the morning. If she needed someone to drive her to a competition across state lines, then he would be the first one to offer a lift. If her weekend nights were filled with homework and studying, then his weekend nights were at home studying with her. He was her number one fan.
And she thanked him by any way she could, he was the first person to see her womanly body naked, he was the first person she pleasured orally, the first person she opened her thighs to, the person she gave her virtue to, as she thought he would be the man she would marry. And everyone, including both of their respective parents thought they would get married.
But at the end of high school when college acceptance letters came around, Evangeline got accepted to her dream school. But her dream school was out of state, away from home, away from Tommy. The two promised to stay together, he even gave her a promise ring and pledged her his love to her…
But that all changed after her freshman year of college. Even with email, online chatting, and frequent trips back home, their long distance relationship proved to be difficult. On top of that Evangeline made the decision of studying abroad in Europe during her sophomore year. Tommy and Evangeline made the decision of ending their relationship, at least for the time being.
Studying abroad in Europe proved to be more than just an eye-opening experience for the collegiate girl. She found herself falling for more frogs than princes than she would like to admit, but she fell in love with the city of Paris and made it her goal to go back there right after graduation.
Instead of attending medical school after graduating from college, as her family had assumed she would, Evangeline found herself in France teaching English. She was first assigned to teach in Gradignan a suburb outside of the wine country, Bordeaux where she fell in love with her Prince Charming, Pierre.
Pierre was the son of a wealthy vineyard owner in Bordeaux and someone she had first met when she was studying abroad during her college year. The two were friends, flirted and might have shared a drunken kiss or two but Evangeline never took the handsome 6’2”, dirty blonde hair with blue eyes, chiseled body with years of polo and sailing seriously as possible boyfriend material. But when the two bumped into each other at a cocktail party that the American Presence Post of Bordeaux was hosting, it seemed more than just fate and their fairy tale romance commenced.
Soon, dinner dates after work became sleepovers at Evangeline’s small tiny studio, to being the date to fancy dinners, spending the night at Pierre’s fancy apartment, spending the weekend at Pierre’s family’s vineyard and soon the two became inseparable.
When Evangeline’s one year of teaching English at Gradignan was up, she extended it for another year but this time in Paris as it was her dream to live in Paris. And since he was her Prince Charming, he went along with her and the two lived what Evangeline could only describe as her year of perfection in Paris.
Not only was she enjoying her life as the girlfriend of a handsome wealthy vineyard owner but soon enough that title soon changed to Mrs. Candelon. When her stint as an English teacher in Paris ended the two holidayed around the southeastern part of France and found themselves in the picturesque hillside town of Saint-Paul de Vence.
Pierre had already proposed to her at the beginning of the trip with an exquisite diamond ring from the French jeweler Cartier. Now Evangeline’s ring finger was decorated by a 3 carat emerald cut diamond surrounded by a diamond band.
When the two stumbled upon the small quaint church in Saint-Paul de Vence, with the colorful stained glass windows shining through with the sunrise during their morning stroll of the city, it all seemed perfect and the two got married on the spot.
Within being two years in France, Evangeline had become Mrs. Evangeline Candelon and had not once been back home to the USA, much to her parents dismay. But that was all to change come Christmas time. For the first time since she left home to what was supposed to be only a year of teaching English in France, she was going back home to spend the holidays with her family and introduce them to her husband, Pierre.
Little did she know her life was all about to change…again.
