Finally got my wife to agree to let me introduce a vibrator into our sex life, we've only been married for 28 years.
I'd like to get something that is small, quiet and won't not intimidate her - sort of like the "training wheels" on a new bike rider.
Looking through one of the online stores it became a bit overwhelming. So I'd like to get some suggestions from the good folks here, especially from any women who were apprehensive or nervous at first and didn't get scared away.
Thanks in advance.

Vibrators are very scary. :)

Either the washing machine or dryer is fine. Why spend money when you can save? Perhaps send her out into the yard to use the weed eater, but strap it to her belt. Multitasking.

One of the egg vibrators should be small enough not to scare her off. This one has four good reviews:

Two of many sites which have bullet/egg vibrators:

Go to a store. I don't know what your equivalent to Ann Summers is, but that's what you want. They have helpful staff, items on display for you to handle, and a range to suit most.

If you both really can't bear going in person, my advice would be to go for something that doesn't look like a dick. Soft rather than hard. Lilac rather than flesh or black. Maybe a massager rather than a dildo, because it's less invasive, and external stimulation is a good starting point. A vibrating cock ring is also worth considering as a starting point, so it's still something familiar.

Also, if she's not interested and is just giving in because you keep on at her, you're a collosal arsehole and that's abuse. :)

I would definitely suggest starting small, maybe just scanning amazon with her looking at some of the smaller ones. If there's a feminist/woman-owned sex shop in your area, I'd suggest going there.

But, honestly, vibes are pretty much mainstream. Both CVS and Rite Aid feature them in the female section next to condoms and sanitary napkins. So, you could just pick out one together there -- Maybe just start with a vibe for your finger, but it'll help her see the sizes and what she might like/prefer --

Are you sure you want to introduce a vibrator into your play? When I got my first one, I immediately stopped dating jerks (no need, with a vibe ;) ), she might find she prefers that to human flesh, once she gets going ;) Also, be very patient with her. Not wanting to use a vibrator isn't an aberration, it's just a preference. So, make certain she's doing it for herself, and not for you --

Lithium batteries can spontaneously catch fire when excessively vibrated. Keep an extinguisher handy.

Also, remember to remove batteries in appliances that aren’t being used regularly.

Therefore, the next questions shall be:

Has she ever orgasmed with you?

By herself?

With her boytoy?

I know. But 28 years. You think they would know a little bit about each. They should be swinging from the bedroom ceiling on trapeze bars by now. :)

Will have to wait til he gets back from church to find out.

i really don't like them - don't like the feel, the noise, and the sensations are too hard for me to enjoy. i found they numb me and desensitise me to regular touch over a short period of time. for me, and maybe your partner, they simply don't do what fingers, tongue or a real cock can.

however, should my partner want me to use one on him i'd be happy to do that for him.

Probably neuropathy. :)

This one, it worked for me when I did this same thing. Its about as base as you can get. Takes one AA battery (raid the remotes often), has a few "heads", and while a strong simple weighted spinner vibrator, it does the job quite well. Perks it can be put in place and balanced with a bit of adjustment while you do you thing as well. Its not crazy loud, but it does have a bit of noise. I doubt it will be an issue at first, but maybe keep it in the house for the first little bit.

I hadn't been hounding her about it, but this part of your reply did strike a cord. So I asked her whether or not she truly wanted to try it or was doing it because I had asked her and that I'd be okay with either answer.

No one wants to be a colossal a**:)

Thank you for the suggestion and it will certainly stay in the house :)
