Serpent's Tooth

"Yes, I renember." said phyliss slowly. She bend over Antides and gave him a healing spell, nevertheless. Then she got up and pulled a sheet from the bed, and tied it around her body, producing a rather elegant dress for such an improvisation. She looked down at Drocas and hissed. "Maybe I will petrifie him. But let us open the safe first."
Drocas kept quiet, thinking, hoping to find a good idea how to get out of the mess.

Verialyn was a little amused by her friend's concern for proper wardrobe, even in a situation like this one. She herself currently preferred the mobility her current dress - or rather lack thereof - offered her in case some guards were barging in or Antides would wake up too soon. Why Phyliss had healed Antides, though, she would not understand so she did not even try.

Instead she told her, nodding towards Drocas "Just watch him closely. Before you kill him you might want to have a look inside his pants, he has quite a wonderful tool. Maybe we should take him along as our sex toy."

Then, still eyeing Drocas, she bent down and retrieved the key from the neck of Lord Mercurius' still unconscious form, put it into the keyhole of the safe and turned it, the door swinging upen without a sound and revealing its contents. And there, amongst other valuables, was the leather binder that Flavius Kornalis had sent them to retrieve.

Drocas was lying on the floor, and still concerned for his safety. He moved his head to the side, looking at Verialyn and the open safe. "Why this, didn't you want just the gold?!" he shouted.
Phyliss stood silently between him and Veryialyn, her snakes waving furiously, while she pierced him with her eyes.

Finally she spoke. "I might keep his tool as souvenier after I broke it off from his petrified body."

Verialyn replied to Drocas as a wide grin appeared on her face "Hush hush, my boy, lower your voice, or do you want the guards to hear us? So you were after this one? Do not worry, we will take the other valuables as well, as a small bonus."

As she said that she tore another bedcloth from the bed and began to pour the contents of the safe onto it, starting with the leather binder, obviously intent on tying this into a nice portable bundle.

As she did so she commented to Phyliss "You may do as you wish, although I usually prefer my toys to be warm and pulsating with live. But" her attention was on Drocas again as she had finished tying her new luggage item "what happened with Olim? I do not think he let you out that early voluntarily."

Drocas spoke calmer now. "I did not harm him. I just told him that he could let me out, or I shout for help, and he decided to let me out. But what would you want with these papers, they are of no use for me. Believe me, the sake of many people relies on that papers to reach the right people." he looked over to Phyliss, who stood with folded arms before him, looking grim. "And my beautiful gorgon, I meant you no harm, and it was the first time I saw any of your kind and was just surprised, so I apologize if I threated you."
Phyliss growled. "Maybe it is also the last time you see a gorgon."

Verialyn looked around the room. It would be no problem to traverse the palace nude as she were, but out in the streets it was another matter. Sure, by now night should have fallen, but they still might run into the occasional passerby.

"Drocas, I would suggest you show her your dick, maybe that will mollify her. Otherwise it looks rather bleak for you, seems she took a liking to Lord Mercurius."

Finally her eyes came to rest on Kharnus' by now lifeless form, and from there wandered to the place on the floor where he had dropped his clothes. She quickly walked over, grabbed his pants and shirt and tried them on. They were no perfect fit, but Kharnus had been small enough that it was workable, although the belt was on the tightest notch and the shirt hung only very loosely on her form, except for the two mounds on her chest. She would have to stay barefooted, though, as his shoes were definitely too large for her.

As she had finished dressing, she talked to Drocas again "Oh, and do not worry, I will make sure those papers will reach the correct people." Then, facing the gorgon again. "It is your call, what shall we do with him?"

Phyliss looked down a him. Drocas tried to get up, and this did it. Maybe he got afraid, or wanted the papers... but he just stiffened and turned grey. Phyliss bend down to and reached into his pants, and was surprised. "So, at least I got him really a hard one. But he might survive." She got up, not looking mad anymore. Then she quickly turned around, took a step towards the bed and gave Antides a kiss on the mouth, then she get back to Verialynn. "Let us go from here."

Verialyn sighed a little as she saw Drocas turning to stone. He would have made such a nice slave. But she was not one for sentimentalities, so her mind immediately returned to the present, and without further comment she just nodded to Phyliss' suggestion and headed towards one of the exits of the room, after sheathing Drocas' sword in her belt.

She carefully opened the door and peeked outward, not noticing anyone on the floor. So she quickly waved Phyliss to follow her as she soundlessly stepped out, the bundle with the contents of the safe on her shoulder. 'I only hope it does not come back to haunt us that we let Antides live' she thought to herself.

Phyliss moved quickly and silently. There were some candle in the palace, for it was pitchblack outside by now. But that didn't concern her. She ran towards the stairs, looking around that they would not run into any servant or guard. She wondered if they had caught Palix by now, and what would be done with him. As she began to get down the stairs, she heard a desperate sound, a strange scream that sounded like a mixture between a vulture and a child. It sounded eerie and startling, but she would loose no time to check. Verialyn was close, they had to stay together.

Phyliss and Verialyn managed to traverse most of the palace without being noticed. Verialyn had a vague idea where the eerie scream might come from, but she kept that to herself for now. Their coordination enabled them to always find a niche to hide in for a moment when it became necessary, letting guards or palace personnel pass them unawares.

This way they finally made it to the servants quarters where they had first entered the estate. They were now close to the exit.

Phyliss Ovida

"Allright. Now for the exit." Phyliss went on, and came face on face upon a guard, but he turned to stone before he could do any harm. Luckily he had a crossbow, and Phyliss picked it up. She had acitivated her shields again. Nothing should be able to stop them now.

Verialyn could not help but remark "You really make the guys rock hard today" as she neared the exit. Noone else was seen nearby, and so she removed the bar and opened the door, for a moment surprised by the fresh breeze of night air streaming in.

She immediately stuck her head out and looked to both sides, before she commented back to Phyliss over her shoulder "seems the coast is clear". With these words she stepped out into the night, obviously expecting her companion to follow.

Phyliss followed the vampire into the night. She kept the crosbow, just to be sure. She walked fast, because she just wanted to reach Flaviaus Kordalis as fast as possible. She looked back, but nobody did follow her. Good.
"I think we will need just some minutes."

Verialyn nodded "Yup, should not take too long. But we better watch out, it would be a real pity if we now ran into a bunch of street thugs. Well, mostly a pity for them, but still..."

With these words she increased her pace, and tried to follow the way back to the estate from memory as good as possible, although it was harder to find the right direction at night.

Phylisspointed to the house of Flavius. She walked upon it and knocked on the door.

Verialyn was reliefed as they finally had found their destination. She pressed her back to the wall next to the door as she waited for someone to react to Phyliss' knock, and indeed it did not take long as one of the servants opened. At first he seemed to be a bit irritated by the girls unusual attire, but then the gorgon's hairstyle struck a cord with his memory, and the recognition was visible in this expression.

"Come in ladies, come in" As they did so he immediately closed the door behind himself. "Please proceed to the living room, I will immediately send for Master Kornalis."

Phyliss walked inside, feeling better in her made-up dress then in the rugs she was send out earlier. She sat down, tired and still shook up from all that happened her day. She waitet patiently for their host.

Verialyn followed suit, and after entering the living room she dropped the loot bag next to one of the couches, on which she dropped herself afterwards, her limbs sprawled all over the piece of furniture as her head rested on one of the armrests. She did not care how strange her current clothing might look.

Finally they heard steps on the stairs, and soon after Flavius entered the room. He approached them with outstretched arms, a genuinely happy expression on his face. "My two beautiful friends, I am so glad to have both of you back in one piece."

Phyliss looked at him. "Now, but nearly in bits and pieces, and torn and stretched as well. This was the worst thing that I survived for years, and I am tired and hungry and sore. And the clothes I had to put on in the beginning... I'd rather been flogged for a week instead of wearing them a minute again." she pointed at the bundle. "There are your papers. Now we want to go to bed and in the morning I like a big breakfast. I leave you some time to think on a proper reward. We will take cash. Anything you like to add, Verialyn?"

Verialyn could not help but an amused smile appeared on her face "As my companion said, we were both raped several times during the day, and subjected to other demeaning practices." Then she added, probably to everyone's surprise "It was definitely an interesting experience".

She reached into the bundle, took out the leather binder and dropped it on the table. "I think this is what you have been looking for" before she leaned back, the smile still on her face, and watched Flavius' reaction.

Poor Flavius was taken aback by Phyliss' reaction and Verialyn's comment, and completely unsure how he should interpret her last remark. So he tried to play it safe and chose the in his mind appropriate apologetic route. His happy expression became genuinely regretful.

"My poor Lady Ovida, I am deeply sorry about what has happened to you. I had no idea that you would face such horrible ordeals in that palace, otherwise I would never have let you go. All the more I am grateful for what you have achieved" he could not suppress an excited glance at his prize "and of course I will do my best to compensate you adequately. Is there anything else I can offer you besides gold?"

Phyliss pondered a moment.
"Oh, well, gold will do." she smirked. "Diamonds would be accepted as well. But now, it is time to go to bed for little gorgons." She got up, and Flavius sent for a servant at once. He showed the girls to their room. It was a large, luxurious room with to big single beds. "Maybe he thinks we get afraid if we are single." said Phyliss. "But I really hav eto sleep now." she took off the sheets and put on her old, but still fashionable negligee of green taft. It was very short, leaving her arms, shoulders and most of the legs free, but it was warm enough in here. She crawled into her bed, under the blankets, and put out the candle. "Nightie-night."
But she could not sleep at all. Antides was at his mind, and she begann to weep, hoping that Verialyn would not notice.

Verialyn followed suit and undressed. Contrary to her companion she preferred to sleep in the nude, so she crawled on the bed stark naked. Her vampiric nature made her largely immune to cold, which was why she usually did not bother to cover her with any blankets, so she just lay there on her back, as she heard the sounds coming from Phyliss.

She turned until her upper body was facing towards the gorgon, and in a low and gentle voice asked "Do you want to talk about something?"

"Ohhh.. I don't know how to tell..." sobbed the gorgon, feeling very ridiculus. After she had spoken up, she really started to cry. She couldn't hide her sobbing anyway.

"Oh my" Verialyn felt really sorry for her companion. She got up and walked over to her, climbing into Phyliss bed and under the sheets behind her, so she could give her a tight and comforting embrace and such that the gorgon could feel the comforting warmth of her body.

"Let those tears flow. Let them wash the sadness out of your soul. And when you are ready, tell me what is bothering you."

Phyliss put her arms around her friend, and put her head onto her shoulder while she cried, not realizing that Verialyn got a face full of snakes. Finally she retreated a little, but kept in that comforting hug. "It is just Antides... I feel so mean. I think he trusted me..and now I have ruined him. Maybe he wasn't so bad after all, just loneley."
