It's been many years since I read The Sleeping Beauty series by Anne Rice under the pseudonym A. N. Roquelaure. But as I recall the jist of it was that Beauty was some sort of royalty or upper crust type and in her culture, to take your place in that society one had to be trained sexually and serve a master for a length of time.

I'm thinking about a couple who have been in love since before they were a Lit approved age, and grew up in neighboring households. After reaching the age of twenty, when schooling finishes in this culture, they are "adopted" by trainers.

In this culture, not just anyone can be a trainer and it's a position of esteem. The young people are auctioned to these trainers, with proceeds going towards a nest egg that the young person will have when their training is done.

The day these two young lovers are auctioned they are overjoyed, at first, to find they are both adopted by the husband and wife of a wealthy household.

I could see where part of their training was to not have desire for each other, but some little bit of fire was left int them deep down inside, and it only builds until out of total frustration they finally get together, breaking the hold their training had over them and setting off on the run so they aren't separated again. If the couple does get together earlier, they can do that under the guise of practice. Asking help with certain moves and positions. They could feel watched, and only do it over the clothes, which can be just underwear. This can build up the frustration even more.

They could also 'steal' the sex they have together. With both of them needing to perform, having more sex could wear them out. Because of that it is a big taboo to do so outside your trainers permission. You can build up tension here too by having them first only act it out iver the clothes above, or intensely talk about it.

Another angle is the classic 'will they won't they' angle. They really like each other, but before either confesses their deep seated love they are selected for training. I've had a couple kernels of ideas along those lines, but, the trainer adds a new element.

I like the idea of their love-making is constrained by someone/something else. They want more, but, have to take what's allowed... or what’s alread been done/trained.

This is such a good setup! The tension of being so close yet unable to act on their feelings while being trained by the same couple is chef’s kiss. You could explore how their love evolves under these constraints, do they grow closer through shared frustration, or does jealousy creep in as they watch each other with the trainers? Maybe the trainers notice their connection and use it to manipulate or test them, adding another layer of psychological drama.

You could also dive into the power dynamics between the trainers and the trainees, are the trainers kind mentors, or do they take advantage of their position? And how does the couple’s love survive (or falter) under such intense pressure? So much potential here!

I love this idea! And the suggestions... I am still mulling over the ideas that this has elicited in my kinky brain.

To try to answer your question, it seems like an 'erotic coupling' story but it would depend on how far you go in any direction. With the Steampunk theme and the training it could easily fit in BDSM as well. Many of my ideas fall into several categories also, but none are polished enough to submit so I have not had to wrestle with this question.

So women are still very elegant and femininely dressed, classy and stylish. Men in a fine tuxedo or suit. Steam and electrical devices, but without the dreariness of a world run on coal. I started it last night. Working title, The Red Velvet Collar.

Exactly. Though there will be electricity. But nothing beyond radio in the homes.
