My latest was approved in about 24 hours. Which I would have been fine with if it wasn't for all you braggarts*.

* just kidding. I am fine with it. Carry on everyone.

It is said here in AH that Laurel tries to space out the various categories. If there were a lot of Romance stories on that particular day, she would delay it for the next. So it is said.
Since there is an automatic process for posting, and the pending/new tag doesn't seem to change I wonder how they separate certain posts I would think that the script would pick up everything.

Not sure what you mean. You choose a category when you submit the story (although Laurel sometimes changes it, I hear).

It's true. I've often had stories approved, then timed for release two or three days later. She tries to steady state each category's flow of new stories/chapters.

It's not a fully automatic sequence. Laurel can set release clocks whenever she wants; or, if you submit all chapters at the same time, you can ask her for a staggered release. Usually 24 hours apart, but I've seen 48 hour gaps between chapters.

Correct. She'll occasionally change category without referring back to the author, placing it where she thinks it will run best. Also, if you're unsure yourself, you can ask her to decide. I've done that a couple of times.

You can also ask her not to put a story in a so-called trump category, if you give her reasons. I've got a couple of stories with incest sub-themes that I didn't want in T&I, and they're not. Laurel added an editor's warning at the top, saying this story has incest themes.

For my most recent story, I had the tag "stepsister" in the chapter where my main character fucks, well, their stepsister. Not "incest", though. It was approved very fast.

Yep. I just posted a story with a transgender MFC, which would normally go into the transgender category, but I wanted it in Romance. So I added a note in the Admin field about what I was doing and why. And she let it go through to Romance.

And it only took 24 hours to post! :)
