Show us your face... over again!

Has anyone seen that “#decadechallenge” floating around Facebook and Instagram lately?

The idea is to post a pic from 2009 beside one from 2019. I did it earlier today but as the day wore on I just couldn’t shake this feeling of guilt/shame because the second photo I posted (which is one very similar to one I posted here after getting my bangs cut) was completely unrealistic of who I actually am...it was filtered and it was taken just as I had left the salon where my hair was cut/dyed/styled beautifully, my eyebrows had just been waxed into perfect fullness and shape, AND I used a filter from Snapchat to make it look like my makeup was perfect.

That isn’t the real me...if I was sitting across from you right now you definitely wouldn’t see the girl that you see in any of the photos I’ve ever posted here.

So I started a new challenge and it made me anxious and scared and I dislike the photo I took to accompany it..but then I saw a friend repost what I said along with her own raw unfiltered photo, and then another, and another. And that made it worth it

And all that is a very long-winded post to say that today I don’t feel like hiding behind filters, or camera angles...I don’t want to take a perfectly posed photo with my makeup done just right.
I’m going to post me..no makeup at all, hair in its natural state (minus me running my hands through it a dozen times out of anxiety) and NO FILTER

Get ready to meet the entirely un-sexy Shy

I feel ya. Seriously. The advent of Snapchat makes the visage many of us present look younger than a decade past..it makes us feel good!
You're not shy, you're brave and cute!
