Great book! I didn't cry, but I was scared to death for two months after I read that (I was twelve!). Two other great books in the same genre are "Malevil" (can't remember the author's name) and "Farnham's Freehold" by Robert Heinlien.

Yes that book affected me for a LONG LONG time... it was a huge influence on my career decision.
But I was more like 16 when I read it, so I can imagine how you must have felt!

I read that book in 10th grade as a class assignment. I wish I still had it. Any book like that keeps me upset.

Did anyone read the book Where the Heart Is? I balled when her friend that she was living with died. Just tore me up.

I am the biggest cryer. I cried so hard the first time I saw the video for that country song, "The Car" (don't know who it's by, sorry), where the guy's dad buys him that Mustang he'd always wanted when he was a teenager... GOD... I'm gonna cry now.

The Oprah show always gets me, too... along with chick flicks. I just ball every time I see "Steel Magnolias" or "Terms of Endearment." The movie "Amadeus," too.

I cry when I see happy families. Or when I see a parent look at their child who's going through some "phase" with pink hair and huge pants, and there is such love and pride in their eyes...

Jeez. I'm a loser
Enough of this for now! It's too early in the day to cry!
