Sixties & Seventies

Remember gas wars?

gas down below .20 a gallon
Pulled in to a FULL service station on my Harley, 5 gallon tanks(split), filled up and gave the attendant $.50 cent piece, got $0.15 back in change. LOL! I also remember Big Macs being 15 cents, fries were a dime. A walk in movie was a quarter, and there was no limit, so you never got booted. 25 cents for an all day double feature! LOL! Hershey bars were a nickle and a hot dog was 15 cents, sodas and popcorn were a dime each.

Of course minimum wage was 65 cents an hour and most were happy to get it. A 3 bedroom, 2 bath brick home was $7,000 and not everybody could afford one. Cigaretts were 15 cents a pack!

Had no idea how good thase days were... then! LOL!

In college in the mid-80s, we had two phone lines in to the house near campus.
One was designated as the in/out bound line and the other was supposed to be used only for inbound calls.
To 'enforce' this we put a touch-tone phone on the line, but did not pay the up-charge on the line for touch tone, so it was dial only.

Some of us knew that you could fake dialing a number by tapping the hangup hook. Though dialing 8,9,and 0 sucked...
