Skinhunger

A hair cut is a really good idea. I go to the hairdresser so rarely that it is a positive treat to have the scalp massaged even for that minimal amount of time.
Fortunately my day job provides a lot of skin contact, although never enough to lessen the contact involved when I hold hands with the wife when shopping.

Like Cloudy I can't spoon in bed, but unlike her I feel greatly reassured by a minimal contact (calf to heel or similar) when falling asleep.

I read somewhere that the greatest act of trust is that of falling asleep in another's presence. Although it sounds simplistic at first, the longer I thought about it, the more sense it makes.

Maybe I just don't trust to that degree.

Surprisingly enough, when I do get to cuddle in bed I enjoy it a lot.

Probably because if I trust them enough to let them to share a bed with them I trust them enough to touch me.

Maybe "trust" was too simplistic a word - it doesn't really portray the meaning I want, but I can't seem to come up with another that does any better.

But then, I'm pretty much a loner at the best of times, anyway.

Seriously, you got enough money to get yourself a nice massage or shiatsu while you're there? There's a real chemical basis to our hunger for touch, and that can actually help. Even a hairdresser can be a good choice - just a shampoo and a trim can really make a difference. It'll raise your dopamines and endorphins and suchlike, which will lessen any depression.

Studied a lot on those particular chemicals...

Lovely idea--I *do* need a haircut and beard trim. I'll do that this weekend. Thank you! :)

I completely understand the concept of "skin hunger". I am very into touch.

Since i am a very touchy sort of person, I do cuddle and touch *a lot* but I've never felt skin-hungry.

About a week ago I was just thinking that how sometimes a touch can be so special,
That sometimes A touch is all it takes to calm you
A touch is all it takes to show someone that you trust
A touch is all it takes to silence your fears
A touch can show someone you're there for them
Sometimes, A touch can mean more than a million wise words
and sometimes a touch is all it takes to break you down.

It sounds really theoretical but if you sit down and think about it,
there will be a lot of times that you don't realize what a touch has done to and for you.
