Studying dreams is like studying what's inside a black hole. Interesting maybe, sorta fun maybe but in the end nobody will ever know for sure so it's ultimately sorta pointless.

There are different kinds of dreams. Some are symbolic or prophetic and some not. Last night I had a dream that I was doing lewd things in a Taco Bell. It was a restaurant but didn't look like a Taco Bell. Thing is, In stumbled upon a Taco Bell that got very bad reviews. So bad that I had to read them all. This was right before bed so I'm pretty sure I wove that into my dream.

We can control our dreams but it can be difficult to do. For instance, if someone is doing or attempting to do something bad, ask them for a gift. They'll give you the gift and leave.

I agree. I never feel bad for my bad dreams. After all, they all just dreams.

Sunlight bright upon my pillow
Lighter than an eiderdown
Will she let the weeping willow
Wind his branches round
Julia dream, dreamboat queen, queen of all my dreams
Every night I turn the light out
Waiting for the velvet bride
Will the scaly armadillo
Find me where I'm hiding
Julia dream, dreamboat queen, queen of all my dreams
Will the misty master break me
Will the key unlock my mind
Will the following footsteps catch me
Am I really dying
Julia dream, dreamboat queen, queen of all my dreams

Do you dream about past people and things?

Or things to come?

I..myself , have had dreams of those past, recently.

In your dreams, can you read things? Sings, labels, messages, etc.?

Dreams.

Can you float?

Can you fail?

Upon a cloud ..

up on a vail.

Set your ass..

Upon a sail.

:p

my dreams are pretty much like being awake, in a sensory sense, with sight, touch, scent, sound and taste all present but sight, touch and sound more intense maybe than scent and taste. depends.

most my dreams are absolute nonsense, a clearing out of the day's sensory input jumble. they're also really really lazy metaphorically with the most cheesy and obvious metaphors representing "messages". guess my brain thinks i'm dumb so it makes the obvious connections. i'd be embarrassed to use them in poetry, srsly.

i dream in colour and the dreams can seem to span lifetimes even if it's just a few hours of sleeping. i can be a person (of any age and gender) and any thing. i've been water, air, and rock before. the dream i had where i was a half-buried boulder on a grassy gentle hillside, warmed by the sun, long grass rippling in the breeze, was the calmest dream i've ever had. i felt solid, grounded, and perfectly content- no need to move, do anything, speak, even think... just be. my favourite dreams have no people in them at all, nor signs of human existence. no people 'noise'.

i dream too much and wish i could not dream, at least some of the time.

We sleep to dream.

Only rare dreams are remembered though. If I remember right, one had to be awakened in a certain phase of a sleep cycle to increase chance or even allow for a dream to be registered in wake memory. But the claim is, everyone dreams every night, every sleep cycle, and it easily could be the very point of the down time. (As there hard to put a finger on why we should sleep at all, while it is obviously objectively necessary to function.)

It had been said, by someone, somewhere, that one couldn't, and it could be used as a test for one being in a dream: if it appears impossible to make sense of the actual exact symbols, yet the meaning is instantly known, we're most likely in a dream. It isn't a good test though, or I have long lost track of all those drams within dreams within dream within dreams I live. But since I can't anymore discern unshaved bush from bikini bottoms at two hundred yards I sometimes know meaning of unreadable signs in real life. Conversely, it isn't that easy at all to tell when a text is read or just known beforehand in a dream.

Dreams are noise of the shut down sensory system conflated with recent impressions, memories to be reorganized for storage ideas in need of unrestricted pondering and so on. Most dreams are quite obvious.

One thing to always keep in mind is that no matter how crazy the dream, all those characters in it are you. There's no one else in the dream, everything, a whole cities, are populated with one person, you yourself simulating the entirety of it all. You make all the decisions.

That means, as soon theres realization it's a dream, the possible control is virtually limitless. Flying, slipping through walls, on/off-ing objects (clothing included), it's all easy tricks I have done in my dreams for fun, cheating, or otherwise. There are limits however. First. it is impossible to reveal information you don't have. Imagination, simulation is something else, an informed guess can be formed and illustrated, and it comes naturally, but demanding clarity where's none, will break the dream. That's why in erotic dreams faces and bodies have to be swapped around sometimes, just to keep things easy. Second, too much control engage consciousness too much and wake the dreamer up. It's a great way to record a dream, but it still will be spoiled, unfinished, and one may only wonder where it would have gone without intruding in the flow of it.

However.

There are dreams, and then there are dreams that very much feel like something else entirely. Shared dreams. Distant vision. Memories one shouldn't have. Prophecy and Revelations doesn't count, as those are rather within the norm, even if the percepted impotence is great, very much results of the normal calculations of permutations and probabilities we do constantly. And there are stranger things. People previously known only in recurring dreams proven real. Projection? Possibly. Wild imagination explains everything.

Still there those odd dreams that make me to wake in cold sweat and tremors, afraid to fall asleep again. No, not the garden variety nightmares, I classified them all as funny as soon I learned to fly in my dreams. Now I turn into a bigger monster and go chase monsters for snacks. But then there's stuff like that in my so-called biography here. I used to call those seizures, until they just stopped, for a long time at least, after one particular experience.

Make sure you are asleep for periods that are multiple of 90 minutes in length, especially if under six hours. Well, it not that easy, and doesn't guaranty dreamless awaking, but studying sleep science may help.

For a crazy dadaist dream take this: In the living room of my parents old flat the couch was on the beach and I was discussing strange matters with a human sized cardboard cutout mouse who was my girlfriend, my sister and one another girl all at the same time. Above us in the painting on the wall a boiling pot of jelly was an alien spaceship, and then it spill over upon us, for a good laughter. No I wasn't doing any drugs to see that.

Mostly though my ordinarily remembered dreams are beautiful complete movies with great internal logic and often quite complex plot and large cast, and most annoyingly, my avatar ends up solving someone's else problems (what probably is just a workaround of my implied omnipotence in a dream world, would it be realized as such).

my dreams can begin playing on the inside of my eyelids even as i'm dropping off and even if i'm in company and can still hear conversation around me. like a movie starting to play. perhaps i don't remember the dreams that happen in deep rem sleep unless i'm disturbed into wakefulness, but given the amount i do dream and recall (even if only for moments before they defragment) it's crazy if i'm still dreaming as much as i recall and there're still a load i don't remember

the dreams get increasingly "busy" if i've not been writing much. getting down a bunch of poetry helps lessen the craziness involved in them. always been the same.
