Small breasts for the FMC

You think most women look for breast size and nipple color?

Women? Maybe not...men need as much detail as possible, especially the pure porn one handed read type, they're not big on imagination. They want every detail about breasts, but might not notice if you never mentioned eye color cause...eyes are up there, but the boobs are here!

Certain categories or story types I feel draw a more male readership so if that's the case then there is a case to be made to appeal to their baser mentality.

Although my personal style is to imply sex appeal while leaving room for interpretation, I do scan top rated stories sometimes just to see what it’s like on that side of the tracks. I came across more than one in the upper 4.8s with extreme levels of detail. (Was nipple diameter measured with a micrometer? Possibly! Freckle count? Practically.)

So even if we think we’ve figured readers out, maybe we haven’t. Or maybe there’s a niche for everything?

Nonetheless, I won’t change my ways. But Maybe there are more ways than we think.

I tend to leave details out and let the reader imagine them however they want.

But sometimes it's the little things that are important (no pun intended).

For instance, I usually leave out hair/eye color. Shape/look of their face.

But I feel compelled to mention breast size and nipple color. Those are the kinds of details that readers look for in erotica, in my opinion.

And small breasts have their place, despite big boobs dominating porn. A lot of people like small breasts. And I think it's great to represent each type of body, skin color, race, and breast size for each story.

To me, it all depends on the particular sort of story I want to tell.

If I want the story to have a particularly visual and fetishy feel then I will add more details, including possibly bra size and other measurements if that's something that would matter to the POV character.

Lately, though, I've been working harder on changing the way I handle descriptions. I think it's good to give enough description to stimulate interest AND accurately to convey the way that the POV character would think about what he or she is seeing. But I'm trying to leave out details that pin down exactly how the character being observed looks. So, for example, I might have the POV character notice the other character's slim hips, broad shoulders, and musculature while skipping hair, skin, and eye color. That gives the reader plenty of room to fill in.

It's possible to physically describe a character in a sexy way without giving too much away.

There's factors within factors here, one of which being in the example you're giving who is the author? If they're popular that alone can explain the score. I doubt any story has a bad or good rating based on something like stats vs room to imagine.

But of course I could be wrong.

In the end, people can write whatever way they want, there's not usually a right or wrong, just what works for that writer and there is a readership for every style.

This thread didn't start so much about preference, but an awkward description that they weren't sure of and turns out for good reason.

I definitely don’t disagree. And although I don’t really remember who, it was a well known author from the top lists. (I was a bit surprised at the description).

So, seeing one example doesn’t turn all the rules upside down, but it helps point out that the rules are also very bendy!

Yeah, well he DID choose the name "Lovecraft" as a handle for a sex story writer. He tipped his hand.

I guess I just wasn't anticipating the screaming marshmallows. I can hear their little voices in my mind, like those high-pitched squeaks wood sometimes make when it warps as it burns.

She was a petite 5’3” and slim, with cute looking A-cups.

Noooooooo. Not A cups.... that’s so cliched. Like perky, or mounds. Let the readers I Imagination do the work. As for tits, that depends on whose thinking or saying it.

Brave Clarice. You will let me know when those marshmallows stop screaming, won't you?

He also gave a major character in one of his stories the name Lovecraft and, from memory, credited him with substantial attributes.

Heh...yeah

That story was written originally before I even published here, and my wife set up my user ID here to get to publish my work. I never made the connection about that character in my first BDSM stories and this name

Let's just say Mark AKA Lovecraft(his Circle alias) is just a slightly better looking more successful version of me...slightly as in not even close.
