Kiara Kincaid stood and looked along the dark gothic lines of the old mansion sitting back off the road. The driveway lined with willow trees, mostly obscuring the lane. Her crystal blue eyes didnt blink as she contined to stare. The wind blue her tied back long black hair around her back. Her small 5 foot 3 body hidden in the large coat and jeans she had pulled on for this watch. Each night she comes to these bushes and sits, waiting to see the new owner of the place. Some have said they have seen him out at night several times, but she had yet to see him come or go.

Noone could recall seeing him during the day at any time,Kiara let her mind go crazy over the notion, maybe the new neighbor was a vampire. It wouldnt surprise her living in the end part of the French Quarter. She had seen things even stranger than that in her small store she ran. It was an occult store and the few people who came inside had weird stories to tell. Now here she was for the 3rd night sitting and watching.

She pulled her coat tighter around her, eyes moving over the entire front of the house,no lights were on,no cars coming or going. She knew he called himself an artist but she didnt recognise the name. She turned the many bangle bracelets on her right wrist, the slight sound caught her attention. Looking up she saw one of the streets most known hookers leaving through the front door. She was alone and stumbled slightly as if she had one drink to many. Kiara watched as she staggered down the driveway and stopped looking up and down the road. No cabs would come this far at night. Many of the swamp people would actually let alligators loose to keep folk off their lands.

Kiara watched the hooker act as if she had no clue where she was or going. Rising one hand to her head as if she has a headache. "Yes...go home. Wont remember anything.:She whispered to herself as she turned and began to walk like a sleepwalker up the road. Kiara looked around to see who she was talking to. She tumbled from the hiding place and looked a tthe toes of a very nice pair of boots. She slowly rasied her head until she could see the beast of a man towering over her. "This is Private property,The owner doesnt like for people to arrive unannounced.:he said in a deep flat tone as he lifted her to her feet. His grip was tight and she grimaced slightly, thinking about the bruise that would be there later.

"I wasn;t tresspassing,I was heading home..I live over there.:She said pointing down the slight slope in the road to a small house at the bottom. "Then go."The man said as he not so gently pushed her in that direction. He seemed a bit flustered at her when the streetlight shined down on her face. He blinked and looked at her again as if seeing a ghost. He turned and hurried back into the mansion and she could hear the door slam behind him. She figured tonight was blown so she headed home and crawled into bed. Sleep finding her quickly.

********************

The man hurried down the candlelit hallway to stop at the librbay door,he knocked and walked in. His Master sat on one of the large chairs before the fire, staring deeply into it. Andre grunted softly to get his attention. "Sir,she is the exact image of Lana. She even has a birthmark along her neck like hers."He said as he watched his Master turn to look at him. His black eyes long grown cold to any emotion. "We cant be sure,we have thought that several times before. This female could be very different. Sure she sits in front of my house nights on end,but why."He said as he seemed to think for a moment.

Turning to his servant,"Send her a note..inviting her here for dinner. Tell her she no longer has to look at my home from the outside."He said in a tone that told Andre she would not be giving an answer of no to the invitation. He bowed and left the room to ccarryout his Master's words, soon he had walked over and slid the note underneath the small home. The sun began to peak over the horizon as Kiara stirred in her bed, aroused from the most erotic dream she had had. The man was faceless to her but the things he had done to her body made her tremble even now. Taking a deep breath she frowned when she saw the note under her door from her fold out bed. Picking it up she read and then read it again. She looked out over the road to look at the noww darker mansion. She was going to be having dinner in that place tonight, with the owner. She felt herself shiver and then tingle at the thought.

She had alot of things to do today before she even thought about the dinner invite, she had to go work in her store and then drop off a package to her friend Milly across town. She would think more about it later on the drive to her friends house.

(((Need one male rper to play the elusive vampire..he has invited her to dinner to see if she truly looks like his dead wife..sees that she is then has to try and convince her to fall in love with him and then he would have to tell her eventually that he was a vampire.Send me a brief bio and intro and we will go from there.))

"She is dying, Mr. Von Cleave. There is nothing else I can do for her, sir..." Doctor Sheffield said to him as he closed his medical bag looking sorrowful.

"NO! You have to be able to do something! Please! She can't die........' Count Victor VonCleave begged him in the hallway outside his wife's bedroom. He peered inside the room and looked at his wife. She was only 27 and looked like a picture of what beauty was meant to look like. Other than the wrinkled brow from agony of the brain tumor, she looked peacful and relaxed, sleeping deeply from the medication the doctor gave her. Victor whispered, "She is too young... you have to do something..."

"Victor, I have tried everything in my power to save her..." The doctor paused and looked at the floor a moment... then turned and reopened his case and said, "All I can do for you is this..." He pulled out a vial of clear liquid and handed it to him as well as a syringe.

"Wh... what is it doctor?" Victor asked...

"Morphine, son." he whispered and then put his hand on Victor's shoulder and said, "one shot of this... twice a day will help with her pain. You can give her a dose tonite." He closed his bag back up and then paused again and looked back at the heartbreaking eyes of Victor. He could see that he was not about to lose his partner or wife. He was going to lose his soulmate. His other half.... His reason he was born to walk this planet.

The doctor said, "Son. This is not going to be easy, but you are going to have to be strong for your wife... and your two sons. Your wife is going to die... how you choose to let her die though... is up to you..." He glanced down at the shot and said, "Four doses at once would do it son... and she would go easy..."

"You think I should kill her?!?!?!" Victor said looking up in shock at the Doctor Sheffield.

"Son. Look at her face. She is hurting... badly. You wife is going to die son. You need to face the truth. You can help her make this passing easier if you choose." He turned and started to walk away. He reached the front door, slid on his overcoat and top hat, then looked at him and said, "I hate giving bad new to good people. She is an angel son... she really is. Help her and give her an out..."

TODAY

Victor stood at the fireplace, his left arm tucked behind him, his right on a picture of his sweet beautiful wife... 'Give her an out...' the words rattled through his mind for centuries...

He felt his nerves beginning to bunch up near his throat when he spotted his guest leaving her house and slowly making her way down the road towards his estate. He looked and Andre and said, "I will be in my study." He turned and walked away. The agony and pain that he had felt with his dead wife was replaced with a simple cold longing that he needed so badly...

Andre gave a nod and said, "As you wish, Master..."

Kiara had dressed in a simple soft yellow dress, kid slippers on her feet. She wrapped her long dress cape around her as she walked out into the cold night air. She wondered if she should really be doing this, but something had been calling her to his house each night for the last month or so. It seemed to be calling her closer each night, now here she was on her way to a dinner in that same house. She had left her hair loose held away from her face with a simple yellow ribbon. The walk to Victor's house was not that long but it seemed to stretch before her.

She arrived and noticed the gate had been opened as if they were waiting for her. SHe took a deep breath and walked up the lane until she stood before the large front door, the lionhead knocker gleamed in the light from the porchlight. She reached a hand out and lifted it. The sound seemed loud as she rapped twice with it. Her heart hammered as she stepped back ...waiting.

She had waited for what seemed like an hour before she turned, she thought maybe they didnt want her there after all. She took a couple of steps towards the steps and stopped. The flash of pain danced across her forehead, taking several deep breaths she clutched the banister to steady herself until it passed. Her headaches were coming closer and more frequent, her time must be running out. DOctors said as her tumor grew ti waould caused blinding headaches, lose of muscle control, blindness, then eventual death.

She couldnt be helped by surgery from where the tumor was located and drugs did little to help. SOme pain meds eased the pain for awhile but eventually she grew immune to them. Finally 6 weeks ao she had stopped all doctor appointments, treatments, everything. She wanted to enjoy what time she had left doing what she wanted. Now she found herself almost doubled over on the porch of a total stranger in the middle of the night. She stood up straight as the pain receeded, just as the door opened as she turned. Looking up into the face of the butler, the man who had chased her away earlier.

Count Victor VonCleave watched from the shadows as the young woman slipped into the foyer. Andre had offered his arm and escorted her towards the dining room, where he led her towards a nice dinner table filled with fresh seafood, vegetables, potatoes, fruit, and pitchers of sweet tea and lemonade.

Victor's heart would have been racing with excitement and anticipation... had his heart actually worked. So how would you explain the cold dampness forming on his forehead from his nerves?

He began to quietly work his way down the stairs watching as Andre offered her a glass of tea while they waited on Victor. Was this the one that he had been waiting on? It had to be her. She had the same hair, the same eyes, the same lips and smile. She also had the same darkness that loomed inside her head... just like his wife...

He walked into the dinig room and said, "I do hope I didn't keep you waiting too long. Andre, where are your manners... did you offer her a pastry?"

The butler turned and picked up a platter of king's cakes and offered her one before putting it back on the table. She was exquisite to look at. He could barely take her eyes off her. How was it possible that after all this time, his beloved was back?

When she started blushing, he immediately sensed her temperature rise in her... and the pulse of her blood racing and he snapped from his gaze and said, "I... I am terribly sorry... it is just that... well... you remind me of someone I once knew..."

He stepped towards her and said, "Now... where are my manners..." He offered his hand and said, "My name is Victor VonCleave."

Kiara swallowed deeply as Andre escorted her into the house, the table before her was filled with enough food to feed a small army. She looked up as Victor emrged into the room, his presence immediately filled every nook and cranny. His gaze never left her and she felt as if he was seeing into her soul. She cleared her throat and took the offered drink from Andre, then the small King cake. She took a sip of the drink and looked around her, trying to keep her gaze from moving back to Victor's.

She felt his voice glide over her as he spoke, looking down at the offered hand. She slid her smaller one into it and gasped slightly at the energy she felt from him. She pulled her hand back and looked up at him. "My name is Kiara..Kiara Kincaid."She said softly noticing Andre sliding from the room from the corner of her eye. She let her gaze quickly travel over Victor... a faint voice filled her head. "I have finally returned to you,my beloved." Kiara shook her head and frowned at the ghost voice in her head.

She finally noticed he had walked quietly into a siting room, standing in the doorway, looking oddly at her. She felt the flush rush up into her cheeks as she moved towards him, slowly. Her eyes drifting to everywhere but his eyes, his eyes seemed to bore into her. It made her nervous, yet somehow oddly turned on. She sat down on the edge of the chaise and sipped her tea. "I am wondering why you invited me here?" She finally asked him in her soft voice her eyes finally rising to meet his. Again she felt a current rush through her as she looked over at him.

As she looked over at im the voice began once more..." He will help us...you. A chance I never had..."Kiara felt her brows draw together, trying to focus on Victor and not the voice floating in her head. She did feel as if she should know him...she had followed him this long. She had hoped he was what everyone had whispered about...the creature of the night stories. Maybe she was too far gone and loosing her mind to even think such things. Such foolishness.. "I do admit to watching your house..your housekeeper chased me off only this morning."She said knowing it sounded as if she were stalking him.

Count Victor VonCleave's eyes never left the syringe on sitting on the mantle! He couldn't believe what he was about to do! He was going to kill her!!! My god... to save her from suffering, he was going to kill her! He would cry right now if he had any tears left in his eyes! He had been up all night, staring at it... wondering how he could draw on the courage it would take to end the life of the woman who had shared his life with him for so long now?

He heard her start wailing upstairs in agony!!! The cancer was taking her... violently as he had ever seen! He could let her do it anymore... He just couldn't! He finally stood up... surprised that he had the strength to even pull himself up that far! She wailed again and he realized it was the only way. He had to do it... He had to kill her!!

He walked to the mantle... picked up the syringe... and turned towards the stairs. He barely reached the base of the first step when he realized suddenly... that he was not alone! He spun around and there she was... Francis... the one he now called... the great deciever...'

TODAY

"I invited you here..." The count said calmly as he moved to the seat next to her and continued to gaze into her eyes. He said, "Because you intrigued me. Not many spend their days and night staring at an old abandoned house... like this one. I thought since you spent so much time outside it... perhaps you would like to see the inside of it..."

She looked away and he said, "I ... apologize if I was rude... I sometimes forget common manners..."

He whispered, "I hope you will continue to stay and enjoy this meal." He never let his gaze leave hers.

She smiled and gave a nod and he said, "I am sure it is quite delicious! My butler is quite astute with ... the kitchen arts."

Kiara blushed, embarrassed he knew she had been watching his house. Her head finally moved to look back over at him, studying him. She chewed her bottom lip,the questions running wild through her head. She took a deep breath and blurted out what she had been dying to ask. "Some say your a vampire...are you?"She asked him knowing how silly that sounded and stood quickly.

"What I mean is..umm..the rumors since you hardly come out at daytime...noone ever sees you and when they do it is in quick glimpses."She said as she breathed deeply trying to calm her pounding heart. Her head began to ache once more, she blinked telling herself silently to calm down.

She jumped when Andre returned and was grateful for the interruption. She waited while he whispered to Victor, her eyes roaming around the room. The pictures were some of the finest she had seen, she lifted a hand and a fingertip touched the picture of Victor's late wife. Kiara felt like she had been shocked, she jerked her hand back and stumbled slightly. "He knows...he knows you are ill. Let him help you..us." Came the female voice in her head once more.

Kiara shook her head, her hand still tingling,as she stepped backwards. "Im sorry...I need to go..."She stammered as her headache began to hum through her head. Her vision blurred as she turned and rushed towards the front door, slammming it open as the cool night air rushed in around her. She stumbled down the porch and towards the sidewalk, she felt sick at her stomach with each step. If he was a vampire..could she let him turn her...would she let him? Her mind was in jumbles as she fell to her knees on the sidewalk.

"Come child, let me take you back inside."Came Andre's calm voice as she felt his hands under her arms, lifting her into his as if she were still a child. She tried to focus on him as he carried her back to the mansion. When Andre closed the door behind them she felt herself handed off to another pair of arms..arms that were stronger more safer. She snuggled against the strong chest beneath her cheek, her breathing erratic. She faintly heard Andre moving off and upstairs, soon she was moving along but gently.

Francis whispered, "We can save her... you and I... "

Victor stared at the strange figure clad in an ancient suit from a different era... "How ... how did you get in here... How did you ... who are you?"

"We haven't the time for idol chat young man..." the stranger said as he walked down the steps... gliding... shadow seemingly following him with every motion he made.

Victor stepped back... glancing at the injector and saying, "Stop! Back up..." He went to reach for it.... In a flash... the man who had been 25 feet away from him... was right next to him!!! Francis's eyes burning into his own... moving between him and the injector.

He said, "I can give you the tools you need to save her life... if you are willing to do anything to save her..." He could not figure out what was going through his mind... but he could see this ... person was being honest... he thought. Could he save his wife..? Could he save his future? He had not wanted to kill his love... the injector would do just that. That was not his intentions nor desires... and if he could find a way to save her... he had to take it... he had to pay any price to save his beloved!!!

Victor said...."O... Okay... please... help me save her...." Francis gave a grin... revealing his fangs... the Master of the house never got a chance to change his mind...

TODAY

Count Victor VonCleave glided up the stairs carrying his precious cargo in hand, his eyes never leaving her nuzzled in frame. He felt as if he would break her if he looked at her wrong so his touch was very soft... painfully soft for him. He could see the pulse in her neck... which slowly seemed to get weaker and weaker... all part of the effects of the darkness in her mind.

He eased into the Master Suite where he laid her on the bed, easing her under the covers... and resting her head on the pillow tops. His mind flashed to the last time a body filled this bed... it had been the night he had been changed... and the night she had died...

He sat down on the side of the bed, checking her pulse, feeling her temp... which was painfully hot to his cold dead skin... he said, "My child... listen to me... I know you are dying. I can see it inside you... killing you. Don't deny it child... I want to help you .... I want to help you live... will you let me help you?

Kiara opened her eyes and looked up at him,her small hand lifted to touch his cheek softly. Her touch as weak as her spirit, yet some fire still danced in her eyes. Her complexion wan and her lips stood out redder than normal against the whiteness of her skin. " I'm scared...I dont want to die.." She whispered almost too faintly for any mortal to hear. " I am also scared to become like you...even though it is what I was looking for."

Her body seemed so small and fraile lying against the sheets, the covers almost burying her in their lushness. Her eyes met and held his for a moment before she blinked and turned her head away. "Tell me what it is like...to be like you." She whispered as her body tensed with another round of pain crashing through her head. Sweat beaded her forhead and her muscles contracted painfully.

Andre stood in the doorway, watching the same scene he had watched many years ago. He was not a vampire but gifted with eternal life to watch over Victor. He felt his heart aching as he watched the small girl fighting for her life,a life she didnt want to let go of. A life she was losing, but unable to let go and embrace the life Victor offered her with him...for always. He stood there not speaking as he watched the two, heard her soft whispers ,waiting for how Victor would answer them. How he would ease her fears of dying yet being reborn as something else.

He knew the girl would choose the path with Victor but he was also afraid of how much of the new woman would be Kiara and how much would be a monster. It was a chance Victor was willing to take,Andre knew if Kiara showed signs of being a beast there was only one course of action..they would have to kill her once more. This time permanently.

Francis watched Victor spasm in agony all over the wooden floor of the manor... a large pool of blood gather from his neck... and his mouth. Francis could see the life force of the man slipping... and just as it was about to go... he bit into his own wrist... and poured his own blood into Victor...

The dead man began to drink... and drink... and drink till Francis was weak and had no choice but to tear his arm away from the dying man...

Victor began to smile.... as he died...

:: TODAY ::

Victor felt guilt for having to do what he was about to do to her. She was terrified as he gazed at her. She only had a few more hours to live at most... at the very most...

"Tell me what it is like...to be like you."

"To be me... I... " Victor thought about the murders and deaths he has had to commit to stay alive. He had spent his life trying to only kill off the worst of the worst in society... those that no one would miss... even so far as to killing animals to drain their blood.

He paused and looked down at her and said, "It is not an easy life... But... there is another way... a way in which you can live without becoming ... like me..."

He leaned in... bit into his arm... causing an artery to rupture and blood start to pour down his wrist. He leaned in, grabbed her head and lifted her head to him... and said, "Drink... before it heals..."

He felt her lips touch the wrist... and her body instantly latched onto him... slowly starting to drain him... He felt a fire grow in him... a bond beginning to form between the two of them... he realized she was turning into his... they were linking... and the death in her head... the one causing such pain... began to die off... unable to fight the vampire blood attacking it.

Victor knew this fate he forced on her was not as bad as being converted to vampire... but it was just as bad... she would become something in between... not human and not vampire... but a bit of both...
