She was exhausted, completely exhausted, emotionally and physically. So surely she was dreaming now. Surely she had fallen asleep, perhaps still strapped to his rack, but she had to be asleep. She had to be dreaming that he had actually released the collar from about her throat, and the cuffs that bound her wrists.
Was she dreaming?
Nine listened, and listened quite carefully as he sat before her and spoke. Spoke to her as a living, breathing, human being, not cattle, not a dog, not a moron, but as an human being.
She was not dreaming.
She listened, closing her eyes so that she could concentrate on his words. In her tired state, she wanted to make sure she understood what he was telling her. Truth be told, this was the most anyone, outside of another slave, had spoken to her since she could remember.
When he stood, she again opened her eyes. Normally, even tho half free'd, she would expect the strike of something, a crop, switch, whip, once he got up, but this time, she did not tense, but instead remained relaxed. She heard his heavy footsteps, the sound of running water. Nine did not turn her head to see what he was doing, but knew when he again approached. Her body did stiffen, it was habit, but no strike came, no pain thundered thru her. Instead, he released her from the remaining bindings.
Nine was actually a bit confused. She knew she had pushed him. She had spoken her mind, she had told him what she thought, hell she had called him a monster. Most Owners, by now, would have stuffed a ball gag in her mouth and beat her until she passed out. He easily could have done that, but he had not.
He .... was different.
Suddenly, Nine didn't trust what was happening. How could she control anything if he did not "play by the rules?"But her mind and body were too fatigued to contemplate that any further, at least right now. She filed it away for now. It was something she needed to keep in mind, if she were ever going to break away from him and be free.
His touch to her shoulders, he guiding her to her feet, and she was a bit unsteady, and the gentle, oh so gentle cupping of her chin. Her eyes raised to meet his. It was clear she was tired, but, altho faded, the spark was still there.
"Yes, I control a lot of what you can do. I do not have to allow you to choose anything. I do so because I want you to see that I am not a complete monster. In time, I hope that you will see me as different, better than they are. But I will not lie to you about this one aspect. Only you, Slave, can choose how much you suffer. If you behave the way I want you to behave, then you will suffer less. If you do not, then you will suffer more. Your choice, Slave, not mine."
Nine was completely confused when he drew her into an embrace. He was not clutching her like a possession, he was not groping her like a fiend, he was not saying or doing anything lurid or even remotely sexual. He was holding her, and Nine, having not been held like this since she could even remember, responded, leaning her naked, lithe, slightly trembling form into the strength that was his. A long, deep sigh, brought on by all that she had been thru this day, and perhaps many days, slipped past her lips. Her arms wrapped about him, she letting her body relax further. She could fall asleep right here, that was how tired and drained she was.
"I have a name" she said softly, against his chest. She could not remember her given name. Upon her sale to the stables, Miss M and several of her hired thugs, had worked, worked meaning beat, deprived, brain washed, her into forgetting her name. It was buried deep inside her mind, but as hard as Nine tried, she could not retrieve it. Those first weeks in the stables were something Nine refused to remember, the events had been to horrifying to the young, innocent girl. They had come so close to breaking her, hell they had come close to killing her, and the remnants of those first days could still be seen on her skin, and in her eyes, if one looked. The one thing that was obvious, but that she had managed to keep hidden from her now Owner, when she crossed her legs while in the "Sampling" room, was the number 9 that was branded upon her inner thigh. It was small, and Nine either could not or would not, recall that night when she was marked. But, Nine was a better name than Slave.
"I am called Nine, please do not call me by that other word"
The warmth of her breath slowly slid past her lips, moving lightly against his chest. She did not move nor tense when she spoke this time. She was merely stating a face, and he had not punished her for speaking before, she did not believe he would do so now, for just stating that she had a name and preferred to be called by it.
But, it was that small spark that was her, still shining thru.
Was she dreaming?
