Some nights your heart just breaks

This should be my last update, hopefully. :)

Today was Hannah's birthday and though her slumber party that was supposed to happen last night was of course postponed, my brother and sis-in-law had our parents and I over for dinner to celebrate. She still has hearing loss that we're hoping is temporary, but otherwise is amazingly close to being back to her normal self. Enough that she now has to be lectured constantly that she can't run and play yet.

I printed off this thread and read it to her, explaining where each of you were from and that there were people all over the world hoping she'd be feeling better and that seemed to make her happy. (Hard to tell because she was pouting at that particular moment due to an ice cream incident ;), but when I asked if she wanted me to stop reading and let her alone she said no and eventually turned back to face me and touch the heart icons on the page in your posts.)

The unfortunate part of printing off the thread would be that my family now knows I spend my time on a porn site. :D For the record, my father thinks you are all police officers searching for pedophiles. My brother stuck up for you, though. He thinks only half of you are cops and the other half are pedophiles. :D

Many thanks again for all your kind words and thoughts. It means so very much to me, as do all of you.

Min, that's wonderful. I've been wanting to ask for news but knew you'd let us know when you had the time and energy. I love that you read her the thread and that she touched the hearts literally and metaphorically, as you've done with us.

Cops and pedos, eh? Made me grin.

take care, Perdita

Wonderful news Min.

Thank goodness.

So happy for her and your brother and sis-in-law, but really happy for you too. I know how much they all mean to you and am thrilled that things are on the upswing.

All my love,

Mini-You will prevail.

:nana:

Bunk beds or not, don't kids that age always find something to fall off of? Bicycles, playground equipment, roof of the garage (my brother in law when his older brother challenged him to play a more realistic Superman)? I'm sure her parents will beat themselves up over this, but it could have happened just as easily if she'd stood on a chair to reach for Barbie.

Barbie has always been a trouble-making diva.

Wonderful news.

If we're playing good cop and bad cop I wanna be the bad cop.

:)

That's fantastic news Min. You can tell her that there's someone in England who's wishing her a happy birthday and a nice uneventful recovery.

Awwwww ... this brought tears to my eyes.

So did this ... but for other reasons!

Excellent news! I'm so very relieved.

I just noticed this thread....

and I'm glad the ending appears to be a happy one. Now, it just a matter of time before everything is back to normal, I hope...

Ah, life, and those curve balls....keeps us all hopping!

Best, Sack:heart:

Sorry I didn't see this sooner.

Glad she is doing better and she has my deepest sympathies and best wishes for a full recovery.

As well as wishes for her to get a new bed, one closer to the floor.

Minsue,

My daughter broke her right wrist and forarm just after her 4th birthday, grandpa was babysitting while I was at work and he let her climb the monkey bars while waiting for my son to get out of school. It was winter, they were icy and she came down sideways on her wrist. Never in my life did I get so angry at adults that didnt know what to do in an emergency. No one took off her coat to see what was going on, they didnt even know if the bone had punctured her skin!! I made a quick dash home from work, got to the school and asked if they checked it, nope no one had, I slid the principals scissors under the sleave and cut it off. They were shocked, I turned and said, the coat is worth nothing, but she is worth everything! Long story short, we ended up with a neon pink cast, no sparkles.

In gr3 she would have been 8ish, she was swinging in our back yard, she let go to scratch her nose and flew off the swing. It looked perfectly fine, I gave her tylenol and had her rest. A week later after judo, (Yes I made her go to judo, she didnt have to do break falls nor did I make her match, but she went.) I took her to emergency, couldnt stand her complaining about it anymore and she hates needles from the first time she broke her arm so she didnt want to go. The xray tech was awesome, an older guy that aske if she wanted to see her arm, I guess in a away it makes it easier on us parents to know what was up before we got the news from the DR. Sure enough it was a greenstick fracture. Another cast, this time bright green.

On the way out she says, now I have to break my leg so I can get a different colour! KIDS!!

All the best to your niece, and the rest of the family. Oh, just a sec, my son wants me to add something, he is reading over my shoulder. My brother broke over 3/4 of the bones in his body, died three times , almost lost a leg and an eye, doing fine now and engaged to be married! There is always hope!
Lots of Love,
C
