However, and this is, as you probably know, where it gets weird, and more than a little bit tragic...
- In some places that have Sharia (but far from in all, I shouold point out - this seems to be a local misintepretation), a woman, especially a married woman, can also be punished for adultery, even when the rapist is found guilty. Not the most logic of laws.
- Also, if the rapist is NOT convicted, the victim runs a great risk of being persecuted for adultery or false accusation. So it intimidates many from making charges in the first place.
And a little detail, that's just weird in general...
- A fetus is believed to be able to lay "dormant" for up to seven years in the womb. A woman can apparently claim the fatherhood of a child to a husband she divorced several years earlier. Imagine that call from your ex.
